Choose potted plants over bareroots if you can
I think the bare roots are coming from China, or maybe they had some shortage as I received my bareroot package from China. As some of the plants didnโt grow I reached out to the seller and they sent me a potted replacement - much higher quality. If I knew that this will be a difference I would order potted for ยฃ5 more. Very happy with my tiny pond by now, it is a start and I will swap to a bigger pond but for now it is really good ๐

Two months in and they look amazing!
Lovely plants and a great potting kit. Everything looked a bit sad on arrival, but I planted them up , popped them in the pond and crossed my fingers! Everything is flourishing! I had to Google the best position for each plants as there were no instructions as to which were marginal, which should be submerged etc, but the internet solved that! Photos attached, although any thicker plants with white flowers are watercress which I threw in then planted either in these same pots or in the gravel once they'd grown decent roots. The small water lily type plant took the longest to get started and now has 5 leaves, and in just two months they're all looking amazing. This is a great kit, from excellent sellers I've used before. Don't worry that they look pitiful on arrival - just plant them up and have some patience! One star removed, only for the lack of planting and positioning instructions.

Be patient - it's worth the wait!
Be patient - you're not buying fully formed, pre-potted plants. It's taken about a month but all the plants that arrived are putting out fresh growth and I've already had to split my water mint. Yes - some of them will look a bit sad when they arrive but if you pot them well with some gravel on top, put them at the right water depth and leave them to it, they'll soon start thriving. Really good value for money kit, no duplicate plants, and plenty of aquatic compost and pots.

OK but some anomalies
I have had mixed results with these. Some of the plants have settled into my new pond and are growing well. Others have simply rotted away and disappeared. I put this down to me making mistakes in planting them, due to the instructions not being very clear - it was hard to tell which plant was which and so to be certain that each was planted as it needed to be. Some of the plants weren't labelled very clearly (e.g. what is 'varieg'?) and so can't be found on the (very general) instruction sheet for planting. Also, some choices of plant are odd - why put a bulrush - specified as 'for large lakes only' - in a medium starter pack? Also, why put a water lily that needs a large round basket in a kit that only has small square baskets? Otherwise, I'd say this kit was OK. The plants arrived alive and packed well enough. If I were making up a kit like this I'd probably put in some hessian squares for convenience. The price would seem good if all the plants had lived and if they'd all been appropriate for the setting for which they were bought.

Not worth the money.
Bit of a shame having waited over two weeks for these to arrive. I bought the plants for my mum's birthday - she has a lovely pond, not overly big. I was very disappointed when they arrived, quite small, almost dead. I potted them in the soil provided, as soon as that hit the water, it all fell out. There were no instructions. I thought the soil had to be a clay soil for ponds but went with it anyway as I didn't have anything else. It was a disaster. When I put the plants x5 into the pond, they all spilled out the soil, leaving soil everywhere in the pond. The plants being so small, I gathered them all up together and put them into one container. One week later, only two plants survived. Not worth the money.

Very pleased
I'm in the process of putting a small wildlife pond in my garden but when I read such mixed reviews I was in two minds as to whether to buy this pack. Anyway I decided I would, and I couldn't be more delighted. I received 5 small but extremely healthy plants, a bag of aquatic compost and 4 plantpots (the oxygenating plant just gets dropped in to float around). The planting instructions are minimal but I'd already done plenty of research so I had a good idea where they should be placed. I cut up a hanging basket liner to put inside the pots before planting, and put pebbles on top to stop the compost floating out. Within 48 hours all the plants had started to grow and after a week they've doubled in size. Any compost whuch had escaped during planting quickly settled to the bottom. I can only go by my own experience and give this product 5 stars. Now I've got fingers crossed hoping for some inhabitants!!!

After 2 months, very disappointed
Very disappointed. The plants arrived quickly (1 star), and I put them in the same day, following the instructions. A month later, they were either dead, disappeared or struggling. I contacted the seller and to be fair to them they asked for pics and attempted to discuss (1 star) the plants' health, and my planting. After 10 emails, I gave up the discussion; at no time did they offer a remedy such as a refund or replacement. All they said was that they were sorry I wasn't happy. The pond is healthy - there is plenty of invertebrate life, an older lily is flourishing, and an iris from a friend produced four new leaves in a week. After 2 months, three of the plants are growing, slowly, and two others are alive, but only just; I don't think I have anything like ยฃ30 worth, so will go elsewhere next time.

Perfect start for a new pond
A great buy! The selection was well packed and very comprehensive and the plants all looked very healthy. I look forward to seeing my pond in a couple of months once everything has started to grow. The only extra thing I needed with the starter pack was a bag of gravel.
