Original Sound Card Stopped Working - This Saved Me!
My microphone port on my computer randomly stopped working a few weeks ago, which made playing certain games difficult because typing takes a lot longer than it does to talk into a microphone. I began searching Amazon for a microphone port bypass type of product, when I came across this TROND AC2 External sound card. The shipping was extremely fast, two days through Amazon Prime and arrived right on time. The package is small and light and comes with a little card board with some important information on it in regards to the product. I plugged it in to my USB slot and than plugged my speakers and microphone into the necessary ports, and within a minute I had everything set up and working, my microphone working great like it did in the past years. I would recommend this product to anyone in the same situation as me where my original sound card when bad. High quality piece of equipment that works wonders. The customer service is also great as they email you as soon as you receive the product asking if there is anything else they can help you with explaining the return process and any trouble shooting if you happen to run into a problem.

Gets the job done and great value, but not for music
Needed it for a headset/mic with TRRS jack. This unit works well in that respect and the price point is excellent. Sound quality however drops noticeably compared against the headphone jack on a Mac. Biggest difference is in bass response particularly in the lower bass range. It's not a problem for conference calls but I won't keep it plugged in for music listening.

This product solved my audio problem
I own speakers and headphones for my desktop that both use the 3.5mm connection and I like to be able to freely switch between them in my windows task bar. One is plugged into my front case panel and the other into my motherboard in the back of my computer. For some reason my computer recognizes them as the same thing and thus only one device works at a time. It seems to be random which one works at a given time. I figured converting one of the 3.5mm connections into a USB like my previous headphones used would allow the computer to recognize them separately, and that's exactly what this adapter does flawlessly. I can switch between my speakers and headphones in windows freely again thanks to this great product.

Great little adapter
This little device is awesome. I have a fantastic little clip on mic but it has a 3.5mm jack (it’s designed to be used with a phone or SLR camera). This little adapter was so simple. I plugged the mic into it and then plugged that into a USB port and bam, Zoom recognized it instantly and now it is an amazing resource for my online teaching. Can’t recommend this enough. Also I was worried that it would block access to the other misc ports around the USB but it wasn’t a problem, I can still plug everything else that I need to into my Mac. It’s just the right width. You won’t be disappointed if you’re trying to use a 3.5mm (headphone) device through a USB

Works good and is very loud!
I bought this because my laptop uses some program whenever I plug anything into the audio jack and it asks what I'm plugging in. It's really annoying and it lowers the volume a ton to accommodate earbuds, etc. I was having trouble hearing much of anything with the sound on max, so I thought I'd get this adapter to bypass that program and see how it was. Man, using this, I don't have that annoying pop-up when I plug in my earbuds, and I can keep my sound on 1 and hear most things just fine. The volume won't automatically lower when you plug in your earbuds, so make sure you turn the volume down first, because it will be loud. It says you can keep it plugged in for convenience, but when I do that, my computer registers that an audio device is plugged in and won't play any sound out loud even though the earbuds aren't plugged in, so I don't leave it plugged in all the time. I just plug it in when i use my earbuds.

Does not support sidetone
For those that are interested, this adapter does NOT support sidetone (sidetone is where you can hear your own voice thru the speakers, without any delay, sometimes called mic monitor but I am not sure that is an accurate term). You can tell if an adaptor supports sidetone by looking for a 2nd level control in the Speaker Properties window under the Levels tab (this is for Windows). This second level control is labeled "Microphone". If the adaptor does not support sidetone then the second level control will not be present in the Speakers Properties window (not greyed out, just not present at all) and it is not present for the Trond sound adaptor.I gave the Trond a low rating because in the Q&A section the seller explicitly states that sidetone is supported and it is not.
