After two bouts of shingles, started taking Lysine, 500 mg per day. Publications seem to support this dose. So far so good. On 3 immunosuppressive drugs for autoimmune disease (Lupus). Had been taking Lysine as tablets but they were so big. Along with the other medications, the pill burden and volume of pills was getting to much. What I got was the Pure brand, l-Lysine HCL as the free form. Bought in August 2020 and the expiration date was good- 12/2022. See pics, the caps are relatively normal size 3/16" x 12/16". Bottle came intact, no problems with broken capsules inside. I think it was bubble wrapped for shipping.Label says manufacture for Pure encapsulations in Massachusetts. The label also says other ingredients include the vegetarian capsule (cellulose) and ascorbic palmitate. In the Q & A someone called Pure and got the answer the ascorbyl palmitate made in China, ascorbic acid made in China, buffered ascorbic acid manufactured in the USA. Ascorbyl palmitate is a type of Vit C (fat soluble). Pure says this fat-soluble vitamin C is there to further support absorption. Pure says their products are free from wheat, gluten, egg, peanuts, magnesium stearate, hydrogenated fat, artificial sweeteners and colors, and other unnecessary excipient.I guess depending on your outlook and philosophy this could be pure or ??? Here's what I could put together:From a seller: "Amino Replete contains several amino acids derived from corn dextrose fermentation, including l-glutamine, isoleucine, and valine. This process starts with isolating dextrose from corn which is a sugar, and does not contain allergenic corn protein. It is then fed to micro-organisms. The micro-organisms produce these nutrients, and the nutrients are then isolated and purified away from the starting materials. While no corn proteins or sugar remain in the final product with testing showing negative results, we do not routinely test for corn allergens and therefore we would not be able to guarantee its safety for someone with a corn allergy." The seller also states: "As with all raw materials, each batch of ingredients received by Pure Encapsulations is tested upon reception for identity, potency (if applicable) and contaminants, which can include heavy metals, residual solvents, allergens, pesticide residues and others depending on ingredient and level of risk. " It is non-GMO and is vegan. The capsule is from pine (see Q& A).Pure website says as a dietary supplement‚ take 1 capsule‚ 2 times daily‚ between meals‚ or as directed by a health professional. The capsules ae much easier to swallow that the large tablets I had before. From the Q&A there are reports that the caps ay be taken apart, the last is not horrific, slightly salty or butter, but would be easily hidden in food of flavored drink. Easy to swallow and no problems digesting it.

This product has been an absolute life changer for me! Started taking I-Lysine 3 months ago with hopes of improving my skin after having multiple melanoma spots removed. My skin looks much healthier, tighter - even scarring from previous removals have turned from an angry red to pink. The changes have been so significant that I'm actually looking forward to my skin cancer screening next month. Remarkably, lysine's positive effects were not limited to just my skin. As a retired combat veteran, I have suffered from severe mood disorders to include PTSD, depression, and anxiety with bipolar severities. Over the years, I had been prescribed 6 different psych medications that all resulted in an increase of suicidal tendencies and discontinued taking them over a year ago. We feel that lysine has really given us new lives. We no longer feel confined to our home and have actually started getting out and about and enjoying what the world has to offer. We have shared our results with both civilian and veteran administration medical providers with hopes it might help others with mental health issues.
