I love these clippers, my dogs wish I'd spent the money on dog treats.
Let's face it grooming is expensive, time consuming and stressful. My dogs aren't too crazy about it either. When I took my rescue dogs to the groomer for the first time, I think I was more worried than my dogs. It took the groomer 5 hours to bath and clip Sadie, my chow golden retriever mix and the whole time all I could think about was how terrified and dejected she looked when I left her there. Things did not go as well for Abby, my little spaniel mix. I was only home about 15 minutes when the groomer called for me to come pick her up. It seems that Abby had gotten herself so stressed out that she gave herself a nose bleed! Now, I admit that they both looked adorable with their haircuts and the short clip does make a huge difference in shedding but the problem was how to get the same results with less stress on my fur babies. Besides, my husband was stressed when he saw the $130 plus grooming bill for Sadie and the $50 bill for Abby trim. So, I did a little research and I spoke with the customer service folks at Andis (who were very helpful by the way, steering me away from the expensive clipper I was looking to buy to a cheaper model that would better serve my needs). The customer service rep suggested a single speed rather than a double speed model to keep the blades from heating up so fast and having extra blades to swap in when they get too hot. I took their advice and purchased the Andis 21485 which was a great deal because it came with a carrying case, an instructional DVD, oil and 4 combs. The clipper was pretty quiet and did not heat up on us while we tried, with moderate success, to trim up Sadie's coat before it gets too long and shaggy again. We were not able to get the whole coat done because Sadie decided she no longer wanted to cooperate but since it was our first attempt, I count it as a "win". Once we and the dogs get used to the process and can do a full clip in one sitting, then I will purchase additional blades so we can swap them out when they get too hot. The blades were very easy to change and the combs snapped on and stayed in place till we snapped them off. The clipper was also easy to clean although it would be nice if the company included a cleaning brush with their clippers. I ended up stealing a brush from the old beard clipper that we had tried to use to trim the dogs before. I highly recommend this clipper if you decide to groom your own dogs. It had no trouble cutting through my dogs thick coats. The company was also great at giving advice and never once tried to sell me something I didn't need. I would definitely buy other Andis clippers.

Clips Matted Goldendoodle with Ease!
We have a 55lb goldendoodle whose hair is completely unruly. We like to cut our guys hair short and then let it get long enough we see tumbleweeds from the loose hairs he pulls out till we cut him, so its pretty shaggy and matted. We originally bought a cheaper Wahl clipper that barely worked, and then we realized it was just not gonna make it. After a few $70 grooming sessions I realized it would be much more economical to get a GOOD set of clippers and do it myself. With the old clippers it used to take almost a week for me to get him done, with mostly scissor work. We got this on Thursday, and after a few sessions we were done by Friday afternoon (3 kids under the age of 5 means a LOT of interruptions) with almost no scissor work. It cut through the mattes, the wiry hairs, and the curls like a pro. Even the worst mattes only took a little extra effort. Some more blades as opposed to combs would likely decrease the time by a good amount as well. Also, these are MUCH quieter. Ironically, I found the straighter body style of this clipper much easier to handle than the contoured Wahl clipper. I think the only con is the power cord could stand to be a tad longer (it was the same length as our old ones), but it worked well enough in the space I used.

Good clipper set, but not worth more than $50 in my opinion
I have a 14 lb Nebelung cat who was knotted up from his throat to between his rear legs. He's an outdoor cat so it's hard to keep him brushed out and this breed needs to be brushed every day. This breed has a very fine hair structure which makes it impossible to actually use one of the trimmer attachments and his bad temper didn't allow us to trim quickly. Total trim time with my girlfriend helping, 5 hours. He fought the whole time, but now he's trimmed he's super happy. I managed to score these for a quarter what they go for in Petco here on amazon and for that price they're a winner, but like I said, I wouldn't pay more than $50 for them especially with my cat. Pros: Great construction interchangeable blades doesn't heat up quickly doesn't pull pet's hair (important for cats) fairly long cord Can be operated with one hand Cons: doesn't cut fine hair well slow to cut hair cutting edge heats of fairly hot if you aren't paying attention fairly noisy (louder than the Wahl I use to shave my head with, but the Wahl pulls at my hair) Standard cheesy plastic clipon attachments, though they clip on and not slide on so it's easier to attach them

Complete Junk.
These clippers are the worst! This was a complete waste of money. I have been using a Wahl pair of clippers I bought at Sally Beauty twenty years ago on both a schnauzer and poodles. Over the years it did a great job but when I needed to replace thought I'd go with Andis since they are made for pet grooming. Big mistake. Under powered, over heats and does a very uneven and choppy job even when her coat is shorter. Would NEVER buy Andis again nor would I recommend.

Great Product
My long haired cat suffers each summer....groomers that I have tried, had problems cutting his hair.... So I bought those cheapo units at KMart for $20....get half the cat done....return it for a new one to finish the job, but these units seem to pull more than cut..... Bought this one from Amazon, and what a difference.......with the comb attachments you can cut to any length......after about 10-15 minutes, the head gets a little warm....just remove the comb attachment...remove any hair in the blades....relube with the provided oil.....you are good to go..... Amazed our car let me work so long on him....the noise level was much lower than those cheap units, and it cut rather than pulled the hair......have used this several times and also on my other cats......I recommend this clipper for your cat...The clipper blades are still going strong....

Vey disapointed, had to by a 110/240 transformer . The clippers aren't any better than much cheaper ones, when it comes to my Bearded Collie. They took nearly a month to arrive and now I wish I had canceled my order, I did not return them as I thought the postage back to America would have been horrendous. They are no more powerful or quieter than ones I've paid £30 for BITTERLY DISSAPOINTED.

This works well. The brand identifies which clipper you need for your breed of dog, and this one works well for the thick coat os a BIchon Malte. It is not cheap, but you do get what you pay for here. Lesser brands do not work well at all.

It works as it should. The included #10 blade was to fine for my dog. Had to buy a #7 blade. Works good.
