Great for Aching Joints
I've only had the therabath for one week, but so far it has lived up to expectations. I use it twice a day on my hands because of a sore right wrist and thumb joints on both hands. The bath is the size of a large, oval crockpot & I keep it plugged in all the time on the counter in my second bathroom. I do both hands in the morning when I eat breakfast by bathing only one hand at a time. Then I can eat and read the paper at the same time. As the reader can guess, I am retired so mornings are no longer a rush. I use the bath a second time in the evenings as I watch television or read. The directions say that it takes 8 hours to melt the 6 pounds of paraffin that comes with the unit. It only took 1 1/2 hours for that amount to melt for me, so I started using it right away. I saw this product used on hands in a hospital setting, and the heat brought the patient relief. By watching, I learned that all you need is a plastic bag large enough to slip over your hand and an old towel to wrap around your hand. You dip your hand slowly into the wax that is between 120 - 125 degrees, (there is no temperature switch-the heat is preprogrammed) then lift your hand up and redip in the same manner 6 or 7 times. The more times equals the amount of heat that is retained, so you will probably need to experiment. Then you quickly wrap the plastic bag around your hand, foot or elbow, etc. and finally wrap the plastic bag on your hand, etc., in a large towel. A large towel keeps the heat in better than a skimpy one. The treatment is very soothing and is even good for dry or cracked hands. I plan to use it in the winter also for the latter reason. After the wax has cooled, you unwrap your hand, etc. and peel the wax back into the unit to be reused. The plastic bag lasts for quite a few uses--in seven days I have replaced the original once. I even recycle the wax in the bag that is in small clumps & easy to pick out. Be sure to register your unit with the company. A six page information sheet is generated with the registration that has some interesting & helpful information. My hands & wrists do feel better after each treatment & I am able to do painless finger/wrist exercises after the treatment. I know that this is the same type of regimen used by physical therapists--heat followed by exercises.

Wonderful wax bath
This is the best wax bath, soothes arthritic hands! Lavender wax is lightly scented, very silky, the best!

Very satisfied customer
Two months ago my "first ever purchased" wax bath died after 1 1/2 years of use. I have spent the last two months to no avail perusing the internet trying to find a bath with comparable features. I did order one. It was cheaply made and had the worst possible wax with it. Used it the day I received it, put it back in the box, and dropped it off at the UPS store the next day. Luckily, Amazon gave me a full refund in a timely manner. My old arthritic hands really suffered the two months without a hot wax bath. I have come to realize how much a hot wax bath helps with the pain in my hands. My daughter pointed out this model. I was a little overwhelmed at the price. But, I have used the Therabath wax for over a year and really do like it. So, I decided if the bath would live up to the wax's reputation, I would bite the bullet and order one.The bath arrived on time. The packaging was not damaged. Upon removing the bath, I could tell this machine was way more sturdy and way more well-made than the other one I had purchased.I was concerned about not being able to control the temperature as I could with my first bath. That is a non-issue. The wax is always at the right temperature. Granted, melting the wax does take longer, but that is not a deal-breaker for me. I am aware of that fact and deal with it. I especially like being able to melt 9 pounds. Saves having to melt wax all the time.As for the cost, you get what you pay for. This machine is worth the money spent. I would highly recommend this to my family and friends.

Love the unit, didn't love that the heating element went out at 13 months!
I love how it helps my hands from the dryness of the winter. It really works well and for my heels as well. I use it about once a week. As far as my unit, it stopped working after 13 months. It has a 5 year warranty with WR Medical Electronics Company. Dave and Lori were so helpful and kind in answering questions and helping me to get my unit back to the company for repair. They fixed it the day it was received, so I had it back 12 days after shipping it to the company. They replaced the failed heating pad. I was not particularly happy that I had to pay to ship it back to them and then write a $15 check for it to be sent back to me. Repair is free, Shipping cost me $32. Also, getting the wax out is a nightmare! Just don't put your hair dryer on high to remove the wax! I had wax everywhere, including my glasses and new blouse! So, put on an old shirt that you can throw away because chances are you will have wax on it and maybe take it to the garage and put get a tarp from the dollar store that you can throw away! I suggest keeping the original box and shipping box when you receive this item so youaren't looking around for something to ship it back in. If it didn't quit on me, it would be 5 stars. Maybe I got a lemon? If it quits again, I will update and lower the star count. Lori said it can be repaired after the five year warranty, you just have to pay for that. I'm willing to try again because I liked it that much. A note on the wax that comes with the unit. I'm the only one that uses the unit and I am still using the same wax that came with it after 13 months. I have not added any more yet. To clean, I just unplug the unit once every three months, let it harden and then scrape off the bottom of the wax. It's easy to get the wax out of the unit by reheating just enough to loosen the sides. The manual suggests cleaning the unit after every 40 treatments. I just like to do it more often. I did notice a big difference in my hands after not having the unit for the past 2 weeks. Just hoping it keeps working longer than another year!

I love it!
This is one of the most expensive units on Amazon but I must say that so far it is amazing! I dipped both my hands and feet for the first time today! I had a nice bath, and treated my feet and hands to an at home mani/pedi treatment removing all dead skin/cuticles, then I dipped my feet and hands one at a time into this warm wax and it was heavenly! I bought the professional disposable bags for hands/feet though you could easily use plastic wrap or reuse grocery bags. Then placed them in the footie/hand warmers that I also bought on amazon. I found the temperature to be perfect but keep in mind my feet and hands were already warmed up from lounging in my bath before hand. If your hands or feet are cold it may feel like the wax is too hot. I have severe pain in my hands, elbows, ankles and feet due to arthritis so I have to say that I just love this machine. It is just so wonderful to come home too after a long day at work on my feet all day, have a nice bath soak, then treat my feet, ankles and hands to a wax treatment! I imagine that I will just leave it plugged in during the fall/winter season when I have the most pain issues because it does take a long time to heat the wax (6 hrs). Also when buying wax in the future, I will just buy unscented and use my own essential oils for fragrance or aromatherapy. My feet and hands are so soft and I have not even put on any lotion yet!!
