Toledo Goldfish Butterfly Fin Koi, Variety of Colors and Patterns - Perfect for Ponds or Aquariums - 3-4 Inches, 5 Count

Ordered over weekend, received a message to confirm a good shipping date either sunday or monday, I forget. Shipped monday, arrived Tuesday and the fish are in fabulous condition. They look so energetic and healthy. Theyre stressed out with the adjustment to a salted QT at low pH- my water is extremely soft- comes out of tap like RO. I did make some basic requests to the seller- obviously at this price you cant describe the exact fish you want- but I did tell them Id very much like a platinum, that my pond has shubunkin and a black bottom so Id prefer to avoid dark fins that wont show in my pond and avoid busy calico that will look just like the shubunkin. I thought even going to 3 criteria was a lot when buying fish at this price point... but they did a great job accomidating my request. There are at least 3 platinum, there are some calico, but not many and not as busy as a shubunkin and zero black fins. Impossible to ask for better. Im doing a happy dance - and it seems so are the fish in quarantine, so make sure you cover the quarentine container. They are grazing, picking up everything off the bottom. They were prepared properly for shipping, there was ZERO excrement in the bag AND when opened had no fish smell- thats how you know they care about the fish they ship and spend a couple days preparing them for the journey. None of the fish are skinny- these are fat health babies fasted just for this weeks orders. Some, a small #, are questionable as to whether they can be called butterfly. They are all at least 3+ inches. I could not be happier- a lot of the iffs/butts Im posting are to keep people who are impossible to please or have unrealistic expectations away from this excellent shop. Ive been keeping and breeding tropical fish for 40 years, Ive shipped and recieved a lot of fish - these guys know what they are doing and they are doing it right. If anything goes wrong in QT, Ill update. I planned a 4-6 week quarentine- but right now, if nothing looks wonky, theyll be in the pond in 10 days. 80 hour update: since theyre in a QT with an uncycled filter Im not feeding- but I am adding huge quantities of hair algae from the pond with a grow light, to assit in cycling and ammonia uptake between daily water changes. They eat all the hair algae every day. No stringy poop, no clamped fins, no flashing. There is nothing that makes me nervous even a little about any fish. There are more than the 20 I bought. maybe 22, maybe 24- Theyre so active its nearly impossible to count. Extras are so that buyers dont complain about expected losses. I happened to get lucky with perfect temperatures and a literate fedex handler who was gentle with the package marked "live fish". Update May 12- All fish in pond. No reason to continue Quarentine. I now get up with the sun so I can have my coffee with their breakfast, best part of my day.

It took a long time to get the pond back working since last years set of storms...today my Butterfly Koi arrived. This is the third purchase from this company. While the yellow standard koi they have grow super fast...I opted for the lovely butterfly koi and they chose the most amazing set. I ordered 10 and got 12. Great service and very fast. They put a cooling pack in the box and every single fish arrived alive and swimming vigorously. They have already scoped out the deep end and are looking great. For the cost, I got twice the number of fish as I would have locally...and locally they would have been much smaller. Great value...gorgeous koi... Five Stars! I will attach a video so you can see just how healthy they are and the colors.

The butterfly koi that the seller selected were breathtakingly beautiful and included a great mix of various colors and patterns. They arrived very fast, were packaged with care and all arrived in EXCELLENT condition. They’ve adapted to their new home very well and in the couple weeks since they arrived we haven’t lost a single one. Over the years we’ve purchased various styles, colors and sizes of koi from local, regional and long-distance private sellers, small businesses, box stores, online and via mail-order and have had very mixed results, so this was a very pleasant experience. In the past we’ve received far fewer koi for the same price we paid Toledo Goldfish. You’ll find that the value for the money is great and I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed. We look forward to ordering from them again in the future and will certainly recommend them to anyone. The attached pics are of the fish after we unpackaged them and got them ready for their new home and the video was taken when we released them into their pond.

Received my 10 butterfly koi yesterday. So far they are all doing great. Love the color combination they sent me. Koi all came looks healthy. So far so good. Highly recommended. 👍👍

I purchased 50 small (2–3 inch) butterfly koi from Toledo Goldfish and overall I’m happy with my purchase. The fish arrived in a beautiful variety of colors and I was honestly very impressed with how pretty and active they were upon arrival. Unfortunately, I do believe they developed some type of parasite during shipping, and I did lose about half of them while trying to figure out the issue and proper treatment. After a couple attempts, I finally had success treating them with malachite green, and the remaining fish are now happy, healthy, and thriving in the pond. My biggest recommendation to future buyers would be to keep a very close eye on the fish during the first couple weeks and have treatment products on hand just in case. Shipping stress can definitely impact fish health. That being said, the koi themselves were beautiful quality for the price, and I would still consider ordering again now that I know to be prepared for possible treatment needs.

I really like the fact that they ask what day of the week that you would like it delivered (via overnight) thus making it convenient for the buyer. I chose a day I knew that I could be home early and thus reducing the chances of being porch pirated. Unfortunately, my doorbell camera went off unexpectedly before I could get home which means someone was lurking on my porch but they did not steal my package. I would like to think that all the "live fish" notifications on the box deterred them :) The butterfly koi showed up alive and I appreciate how they included 2 extras just in case some of them were not able to survive the trip. There was a decent variety included. I am no koi expert so I do not know the fancy names but there were all white, metallic yellow, white with black splotches (some with some orange as well), orange with black splotches, metallic orange & ones with the greyish blue running down their back. At this size, it is not obvious that they are butterfly koi unfortunately. Their fins, especially the rear ones, look normal size. From experience, I have learned that once they hit puberty their growth spurt will make them butterfly out so fear not if they do not yet have long flowing elegant fins. 5 stars and would recommend not only because of the great customer service but also because they are much cheaper than buying them at the local pet stores.

Well, we decided to add a few fish to our well-established 23-year-old koi pond. The mature fish are getting old and they haven't had babies in 2 years. I ordered 10 4-5 inch butterfly Koi from Toldeo. The fish arrived and after floating the bag for a few hours we released them. They all seemed pretty healthy. The next morning, 2 new fish were dead. I wasn't too concerned as it's a stressful thing they just went through. It's understandable. The next day our other fish stopped eating and developed an unknown condition in which they are lethargic and list to one side. No obvious infections. Our koi pond has been illness-free for over two decades. We've lost two mature koi so far and others are sick. The fish I lost today I've had for 17 years. It's sad. I've emailed Toledo for assistance with no response. They do not publish a phone number, which I feel is somewhat irresponsible when you deal with live animals. I feel foolish for trusting them with my pond. I think the thing I'm upset with the most is I can't contact them and they probably have the knowledge to save my fish. If they just cared....
