Boise Salt Co. Pickling Spice - 4 Ounce Resealable Standup Pouch

I used a bag as a base for homemade corned beef to which I added other spices. The quality was evident when I opened the package and it was less expensive to buy this mix than each spice individually, even though I wanted to add three more spices. The brine smelled as it should. I was able to brine 8 pounds of flat brisket with one package!

I ordered this last minute (for corned beef, anyway) to make my very first corned beef from scratch. It was SO easy and oh, soooo delicious! If you like the stir ought corned beef, immediately order this and a high quality brisket. You will never go back to grocery store corned beef! It had an ever so slight spice in the back of my throat at the end and such delicious, robust flavor. I am looking for new pickling recipes to try this out again!

My family list our matriarch in January and we have been struggling to recreate as many of her signature foods and preserve them for future generations. Pickling was something she did for her children and grandchildren many years ago but slowed down over the last 20 years and didn't have the energy for it. We found many recipes and references to 'pickling spice' but nothing with a breakdown of the ingredients to make it. While cleaning up in the garage we found a old grocery bag that had a bag of pickling spice in it! That brand is no longer in existence but the list of ingredients is nearly identical to this blend. I thought my father in law was going to tear up when he got his first smell of this stuff! The family is so excited to get together this weekend and pickle some home grown cucumbers in Grandma Manya's honor. Thank you Boise Salt Co for creating such a quality pickling spice!

We have made 6 pounds of pickles so far and still have half of the seasonings left. This was something that was a fun way to pass time during shelter in place" due to the Coronavirus, and all of our neighbors got on board by making pickles of their own, but everyone agreed that ours tasted the best and the only difference was the pickle spices we used. Love that these are non GMO too! We will buy again once we run out. PS- they're better than Classen!
