Great fitting jacket, warm, comfortable
Carhartt products are weird for me; I have a Carhartt "barn jacket" I've worn for over 15 years, fits fantastic (size XL) and is still going strong. Other XL jackets from them swallow me, or the arms are too short, or something just doesn't feel right; it all depends on the item so I can't just order a blanket size. For reference in this review, I'm 6'4", 36" waist, 35" inseam, 210lbs. Long arms and legs.I wasn't sure how to order this jacket, as some reviewers suggested ordering a size down. I did so hesitantly and got the Large. It fits perfect. Plenty of room for a fleece underneath, but doesn't swallow me if I just have a shirt on. It covers my arms, and the very top of my wrist so you get partial coverage over a glove...perfect.I like that the hood snaps off, the adjustable waist to keep the drafts out, the wrist cuffs, the large zipper, and all the pockets. The interior is quilted and warm, and the shell keeps me dry. Best of all it's very bright which helps keep me alive on the job sites. I am very happy with this jacket.Having said that, I'll still have to try on the next article of Carhartt for fit before purchase, because I don't think their sizing is consistent. But when it fits, it fits good and the quality for me has been fantastic. Great jacket.

Great coat
This coat is very comfortable and doesn't restrict arm movement. The detachable hood fits over a hard hat. There is room enough to layer underneath. A nice warm coat that is lightweight.

washes and wears great
The media could not be loaded. UPDATED REVIEW:We ended up replacing this jacket February 11, 2020 ... so longevity was about 3 years with daily use in the late fall/winter/early spring. After a million washes the reflective tape did not work as well. I think the Carhartt website says these are good for 75 washes? There were spots I could not get the grease out. Not bad, but dirty enough. Plus, hubs lost weight so we got him a XL which fit well at 6'2" and 250 lbs. We have now had our new one for about a full year and we love it as much as the first jacket. These are worth the investment. I cannot tell you how many compliments he gets on this jacket.ORIGINAL REVIEW:Husband usually wears a 2XL TALL in Carhartt jackets, but this one in a 3XL fit him fine...roomy, but not too roomy. He is 6' 2" tall and 285 lbs. He drives truck and needs to wear a safety/shirt vest over his normal jacket. This eliminates that need. Soft, cozy, and warm on the inside, bright and durable on the inside. I have machine washed and air dried this a number of times. My husband gets SO many compliments on this jacket. It is so well made.No regrets on this purchase. In fact ... he has now had it about a year and this jacket still looks great. Almost all the stains have just come right out. Very happy with this jacket.

Very warm
Definitely don't have to worry about being cold in this jacket. It's really comfortable and warm. I'm 5'10" and wiegh 200lbs. The XL fits great with a little room to layer, if needed. I'm not sure of waterproofNess. I have not had it in the rain yet. But a nice jacket that I would recommend.

About what you’d expect from a Carhartt coat
I don’t think I have ever met a piece of Carhartt work wear that I didn’t like. This coat is no exception. It is well made. It is warm. It had plenty of pockets for anything you may need to carry. I also quite like the loop for a radio lapel mike, one on each side for right and left handed people. I quite like the sleeve ends with the cuff set back into the sleeve and a larger cuff at the end to help meet with gloves to keep out the cold, snow and rain. The zipper/button flap is well designed too, to help keep out the elements. Now, that being said, there are a couple of things I wish were different. I would have liked the hood to be a zip on instead of snaps. I would also have liked the main zipper to be a double zipper, so if you zip it up, you could unzip from the bottom to give you more mobility. I have another recent Carharrt coat that has this zipper style and it is much better. Lastly, it’s bulky. But, I don’t know how to solve that one as stepping down a size is not really an option.Overall, excellent coat, well thought out and nice and warm. Tag shows “Made in Cambodia”

Good value for the money, lacks some key features
I have a similar 5.11 jacket for EMA, but the price of those jackets is up to 3 times the Carhartt, which is why I bought this jacket.Pros:It has shoulder loops for microphones, lights, or other accessories.Left front breast zip pocket2 modest inner pocketsGusseted armpit zonesVery High-VisibilityRugged materialWell madeVery good insulation - tested in sub-freezing, low wind conditions with no cold bleed-throughLong sleeves with extra material to cover wristsCons:Non-stowable hood, it is held on with snapsNo armpit ventilation / very steamy if you are workingInside storage could be better, more pockets or larger pockets - an inner breast pocket would be very nice.A thinner shell with a removable micro-fleece would make this jacket great.Usage Tips:You really need to practice good layering and ventilation techniques with this jacket. You will get hot and sweaty fast if you don’t.Overall, it is a good value for the money, especially at 1/3 the 5.11 jacket I’m comparing it too. We’ll see how well it holds up to this Winter’s use.
