What size should we bought for 10 years old ?

I would NOT buy the kids size for a 10 year old unless he/she is a very small 10 year old. I just received the kids size for my 9 year old today and I'm returning it. I ordered the full size for myself and love it. I'll get a full size for my daughter too and she can perfectly use it now and as she gets older as well. The kids size is suitable for a much younger child or a child who is very small in size.

Could this fit in a backpack ?

It will fit in a backpack but you will not be able to zip it closed the handle would stick out from the top.

Does it withstand blow aways with wind or heavier rain?

We haven't had a big storm in Maryland since we purchased our umbrella but it is sturdy. I would think that with the dome shape top it would be more difficult to get blown inside out.

What are the dimensions of this umbrella when it is open?

Also, the plastic seems as if it will be easily torn or punctured by things like a tree branch, as opposed to the more resilient cloth type materials
