Bissell Sweep-Up Cordless Sweeper model 21012, blue

This item arrived on time and in perfect condition. It does not require batteries or power of any kind. It's bristles rotate directly from you pushing the sweeper.This sweeper was practically ready to use right out of the box and it has been one of my most used and favorite purchases so far this year. It's lightweight, stores easily, is easy to clean and does a good job of sweeping up the floors. It is durable and does not easily chip, dent or get clogged. On the bottom of the sweeper there are 2 containers that hold the dirt the sweeper collects. All you have to do is hold the sweeper vertically above a trash can and push each bin to release the dirt into the trash can. There are no filters.The handle can lay as far down as the floor so that it doesn't get in the way of the sweeper going far under items like the couch or bed. On hard surface floors I would estimate it picks ups roughly 90% of dirt and bits that I can see and it does an even better job on carpets and rugs. Another nice thing about this sweeper is that it collects dirt while you are pushing it forward AND while pulling it backward.While it's not a substitute for vacuuming your carpets, it's really great when you need to easily and quickly make the floors look clean ("Oh, you're going to be over in 5 minutes?" guest type of situations), touch ups in between vacuuming and it let's you get away with vacuuming a little less often. My toddler makes a daily contribution of crumbs to our living room floor and this sweeper makes my job a little easier with not having to bust out the vacuum every single day.Pros:-Durable-Easy to empty dirt containers-Collects/sweeps dirt while pushing forward or pulling backwards-Picks up very small, small, medium and somewhat large objects-Easy to clean bristles-Lightweight-Can sweep a few feet under furniture because handle can be lowered as far down as parallel to the floor-Compact and easy to storeCons:-Occasionally on hard surface floors, rotating bristles will "kick" larger pieces of debris away instead of pushing it inside of sweeper.Overall I love this product, would buy it again and have recommended it to a lot of my family and friends, especially those with little ones. It's so lightweight, easy to use and it really helps keep your hard floors and carpets in shape in between vacuumings.

The term "cordless" strikes me as a bit misleading, since the only power that runs this sweeper is muscle power - there is nothing to plug in or charge. That said, this is an excellent little sweeper. I got it mostly to clean the low pile throw rugs and runners I have placed to keep my old dog from slipping on our hardwood and tile floors - I don't even own a real vacuum anymore since we don't have any carpet, and didn't want to buy one just for these rugs. The sweeper works great on the rugs, what I didn't expect was that it works great on my hardwood and tile floors too - about as well as a broom and dustpan. The dirt reservoir on the sweeper isn't huge (it's just the size of the sweeper head) so if I'm doing the whole floor, and it's dirty then I'm better off using the broom and dustpan, because if I use the sweeper I'll have to keep emptying it. But for in-between cleaning, and small dry spills it is EXCELLENT. It will pick up short dog and cat hairs off the floor as well as a broom. Picks up bigger things too, like crumbs and leaves. And it folds flat to slide under low furniture much better than a broom. This makes it easy to store too.Emptying the reservoir is easy, it has 2 lids on the underside that just flip up. There is one large central brush, and smaller ones on each end - these can get hairs or fibers wrapped around them which need to be pulled loose. The good news is, that since there is no motor you don't have to worry about a motor burning out because a brush gets bound up with hair.

When my old vacuum sweeper died after 27 honorable years of service, I just didn't want to spend the big bucks on a new one. I realized that our house has mainly hardwood floors with several area rugs, and we really don't need a huge super-sucker sweeper. My mother remembered having an old-fashioned carpet sweeper when she was a girl during the 1930's, so, after reading a lot of reviews on Amazon, I settled on the Bissell 2102-2. Am I ever glad I did! This sweeper is a little workhorse - sure, it's cute, but it's not a nostalgic piece of vintage-y throwback. No, it really works. It is easy to assemble (took me about five minutes), and, after maybe ten minutes of use, I was honestly amazed at the amount of crumbs, lint, dirt and cat hair it picked up. One of my area rugs has a decorative border with a large black center, and the Bissell picked up the lint and cat hair and did not leave any noticeable sweep marks. And, wonder of wonder, it is absolutely QUIET. I think this more than anything endears this sweeper to me. There are three people and two cats in our household as well as a good number of visitors, so our carpets and floors get a decent amount of foot traffic. Unlike some other reviews, I found that this sweeper did a good job on my hardwood floors and, since the brushes lift up the metal dustpan, there are no hard edges to scar my hardwood floors. For my situation, this sweeper is ideal and I am very pleased with it. It also came packaged simply in a small box with a minimum of plastic. I definitely recommend this sweeper to people with low-pile rugs who like the sound of silence!
