This Black & Decker pivot handheld vacuum is a powerhouse. Great for picking up pets hair. I have two very large huskies and I have hard floors throughout my house. If you have pets you will understand what I'm saying when I say that the hair collects in the corners & behind doors, along the walls and behind bookshelves -in all those places that are hard to get to- no worries though! this hand held vacuum is the most powerful that I've tried so far for its type. it picks up those debris quickly and easily. it does have a couple of quirks. As some of the reviews have mentioned, the hinge broke on the door. Apparently this is a weak spot or design flaw that I hope Black & Decker can redesign for future models. I was able to put it back together but I am glad to know that I can call Black Decker and they may replace it for me. Thank you to that reviewer that gave us that information! I appreciate that info so much! I've used my vacuum for about six months. I love it so much that I am going to buy one that's similar from Black & Decker I'm going to buy the one with the hose because it looks like the exact same kind but canister style with a hose. it might be easier to get behind certain places. I am happy and impressed with Black Decker's hand held vacuum. I would highly recommend it for anyone that wants to get the job done and done well/ #1 in its class by my estimation. One last thing that is a bit of a drawback -when I bought generic filters that looked exactly the same, the generic filters do not fit well into the unit so that you cannot close it properly. I spent 20 minutes wrestling with it and just concluded that I would try and save you that same pain and let you know to buy the Black & Decker brand filters - that they will fit properly and you will save yourself a lot of of grief. I'd like to end this review with some positives - the vacuum is powerful - has great battery life - it is attractive and it fit well on its charging cradle - it will charge pretty fast - it opens and comes apart easily to be able to clean & although I want you to get the black & Decker filters they are reasonably priced and work extremely well. Thank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesn't speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since it's cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However I've never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasn't died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesn't sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two "On" levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old one's switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so I'm convinced this new one is great. :)

I absolutely love this and recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a rechargeable handheld vacuum. I did a lot of research on them and this was top rated for several reasons; it's lightweight but powerful, easy to empty and clean and has a significant amount of use time on a charge. It has a extendable end and rotates for hard to reach spaces.

I purchased the vacuum after much research and I was not disappointed! Overall, I am incredibly happy with the product but here are a few things to consider before buying them yourself: Pros: It looks very sleek. It looks really good on its charging port as well! I don't mind displaying out in the open. It also is quite compact when stored in its charging dock which is a plus. Its suction is great! I think that was the number one thing that I was looking for in a hand held vacuum as ones in the past had issues with this. Cons: The one gripe I have with this vacuum and for you to consider is that it's actually a little awkward using it. The head is a lot shorter than it looks in the picture and it makes it awkward to hold for some reason. It's probably more of my own preference than anything but something to consider. ***update*** I've had this product for several months now and it is still working great!!! Suction still works great, battery life is good and it's cleaned up quite a bit of mess for us in the last few month. But, there is one more thing for the buyer to consider that I noticed with more use. There is a rubber lip inside that prevents anything sucked into the vacuum from coming out. It works great for that purpose. But, one continuous issue I am having is bigger particles getting stuck in-between the lip and the filter. There isn't a whole lot of space between them and anything bigger than dust will get stuck there. When I go to dump the mess in the trash, I often have to reach in there and pick out whatever is wedged in there. Not a deal breaker by any means, but nevertheless an annoyance for you to consider. ***update*** Recently, after having the product for about 6 months, the hinge on my vacuum broke. I recently read a review that indicated the same issue. For the overall good quality of the rest of the vacuum, this plastic hinge for the door is a little disappointing. We have used it daily, so by no means has the vacuum been handled with delicacy. BUT, who has time to treat their vacuum delicately! It just needs to work to clean up all of those messes your kids make! I could not find any way to contact costumer service on Amazon so decided to go to their website directly. Their website is not the easiest to navigate and finding the contact information too a few minutes but once I put in my request, I received a response within a few days. They did not have any spare parts or had any solutions for a fix but they were able to send me a replacement unit for free of charge. I know Amazon has you buy a 2 year warranty but I saw on the Black and Decker website that the two year warranty was included in the purchase. Not sure if it does not apply to the batch on Amazon but I have a hard time seeing black and decker not honoring the warranty. I don't know if I was covered or they were being nice, but I do appreciate the good customer service! So if you have a similar issue and your vacuum is less than 2 years old, try contacting them directly about the issue. Besides the hinge, this is still a great vacuum.

I rarely write reviews, but I knew I had to write one for this item. This Vac is Outstanding! It gets everywhere & everything! The performance is fantastic, it's long lasting. If you charge it overnight, it'll last for a very long time. It's portable, great for the car or office, came with 2 filters. I love that it's cordless so I can take it anywhere. What I love the most is how compact it is, I can fit it nicely away & out of sight. It's so good I'm buying another! The only thing I wish is that Amazon offered filters somewhere on it's page, so that I wouldn't have to search for them. Absolutely buying again.

This is a game changer! I came across this while looking for a portable vacuum for my car and after ordering 2 from other places online that I was disappointed in because of the lack of suction power, poor battery life - I came across positive reviews for this and decided to try it out --- and I could not be happier! The battery life is great, it is portable and the perfect size to keep in my kitchen , where I have found I need it the most! It is my go-to every day item I use within my home, whether it is to clean up crumbs from cooking on the floor or the dirt my little ones brought into the house, this can do everything a full size vacuum can do - but without having to go through the hassle of getting it out of the closet, plugging it in and the things I usually don't want to deal with in the moment of real life happening. The assembly is easy (I believe anyone and everyone could do it). And the fact that it is cordless, I am able to use it in my home and in my car because the suction power and amount of dust collection is amazing. Forget what anyone else has told you , if you are looking for a powerful vacuum that is cordless and will have the battery life to get the job finished, this is the thing you must have. I also love that it has a little extension piece for hard to reach areas as well as a fold out tip with soft bristles - so I can use it on my wooden table to help clean up any mess from dinner in an instant!

Except for one structural flaw, this was a good purchase and I'm glad we bought it. We use it every day to clean up cat litter and debris that the cats spread around, and for other light-duty clean-up. The battery charge duration is great, the unit seems to have great power and suction and it is hugely more convenient than dragging out the vacuum cleaner. HOWEVER - the hinge on the clean-out access door is woefully under designed. The small plastic pegs on the door that slot into the holes on the opposite side of the hinge of what Black and Decker calls the "Bowl & Nozzle" assembly have two very tiny connection points to the plastic door. After 10 months of daily use, the connection points evidently weakened and today when I opened the door to empty the debris, it came off in my hand. My wife and I have handled the vacuum with care, especially when taking it apart for cleaning, so I would assume that any rougher handling would have resulted in earlier failure. The Black and Decker parts website has the full "Bowl & Nozzle" assembly available (listed as "limited quantities available" - not sure what that means) for $17.33 + tax and econo shipping of $10.99. Its better than throwing away the whole thing and buying a new unit, but I'm pretty disappointed that an otherwise sturdy, reliable and useful device has this single point of weakness that, once it has failed, essentially makes the whole thing useless. I'm trying to repair the broken pegs with super-glue and the photo attached shows one peg reattached and the other awaiting glue. So, beware of this issue and handle the access door extremely gently or buy a second "Bowl & Nozzle" assembly for when the door breaks off.

This is a very powerful handheld vacuum cleaner. Very useful for picking up the bits from the kitchen and diing room floor. It's also good for cleaning the seats and floor of the car. Much better than having to get out the big vacuum cleaner. Just the job!

Very powerful and good material like all previous models. Bit more noisy. Comes with american plug rated at 110V, so I used the old charger

Das Produkt wurde leider mit amerikanischem Netzstecker geliefert und ist für mich so unbrauchbar. Sehr ärgerlich! In der Produktbeschreibung ist das nicht offensichtlich. Es gibt lediglich den allgemeinen Hinweis "US internationale Produkte möglicherweise von den deutschen Versionen abweichen." und "Verkauf und Versand durch Amazon US". Ich hatte mir nicht träumen lassen, dass dann ein Gerät mit amerikanischem Stecker ankommt. In Zukunft werde ich also auch auf dieses kleine Detail achten müssen. Dieser Ärger wäre nun wirklich vermeidbar.
