It does what it promised! For the $, I am pleased.
I have a lot of old cassette tapes. I decided I wanted to listen to them again just for the heck of it. I bought several vintage (fancy word for old crap) decks online. The ones that survived the trip failed within a few months. I am not the guy who is going to put in effort and try to salvage this old tech. I decided to look into a new deck. Not much to choose from so I bought this Pyle unit. You know what? For the money, it is pretty good. Here is what you really need to know. Our tapes, for the most part, are 30+ years old. Some have aged well, some are barely listenable. It is not the deck that causes them to sound bad. The first tape I randomly put in was so bad I thought I had wasted my money yet again. I sighed and turned it off and walked away. A week later, I tried again. I grabbed a Fleetwood Mac Tango in the Night tape, put it in and....it sparkled!! I began trying lots of different tapes and realized the deck itself was doing what it could with old junk I was feeding it. Let's face it, cassette tapes had their time, and that was long ago. They are never going to sound great- they didn't 30 years ago, they certainly won't today. But... It is fun to mess around with them anyway. As to the deck itself, yeah, it is not gonna knock you out with its appearance (which, btw, is fine) or it's low quality plastic buttons- but it gets the job done for a relatively low cost. I find the whole thing easy to use and hook up. For the casual listener, this is a great option. I don't record anything so I can't speak to that element of this deck. As I recall, the reviews for these decks are all mixed up by model. I bought the cheapest one and refurbished at that. I don't think I would spend additional money on the "better" ones since the low end one seems to have the same features. Undoubtedly the internal components are the same. All in all, I am happy with this machine.

Excellent product, well worth the money
I had a high-end cassette deck that died after about 30 years. I bought this as a replacement, and I am VERY satisfied with it. Both cassette decks work well, and it feels very solid. The deck doors are tight, you have to be a little careful in loading and removing the casettes - I can see where, if pulled out at an angle repeatedly, it might break. In addition to playing a lot of casettes, I moved it to my office to rip a number of casettes from audio courses to mp3 files. So far, I've ripped 36 casettess (both sides) with Audacity (a free program, very easy to use,) without so much as a stutter. It will be interesting to see how it lasts in the long run, but after several weeks of VERY hard use, I would say this deck is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. ADDENDUM: After several months of using this deck hard, it works flawlessly. I've played it through my stereo system, as well as used it to rip several Courses on Tape (over 100 cassettes) that I have to mp3 and WAV files, using Audacity, a freeware program, on both Windows 10 and Ubuntu Linux. I've moved it back and forth from living room to office, and while not rough with it, I certainly have not been gentle. The only thing I would change would be to put a tape counter on the A Deck also. Very minor. I would still call this player Highly Recommended.

Pyle home dual tape drive satisfies every requirement
I had been looking for a single-channel home tape drive for some time at local electronics reatailers with no success when I came upon this unit after a brief online search. My previous unit had finally died after 25+ years (it was a Sony - which had replaced a previous Sony that had also lasted lots of years). Audio tapes and tape players have become hard to find at most retail stores. I was almost ready to throw in the towel and pick up a 'boom-box' type system just to play my tapes, thus compromising on use of my full stereo system in my workshop. I picked up a dual tape unit at a used record store but it soon died, so I was happy to find this one, and at a lower price than I would have expected even for a single-tape unit. The sound quality is excellent - I have lots of old tapes recorded from the 80s up to now and was dreading having to place them all on a CD format - now I don't have to. This unit included all the connection wiring and it was compatible immediately with my Sony receiver and speakers - I have never had any feedback or unpleasant sounds from the speakers. It picks up the subtle sounds even on very old tapes from various vendors (BASF, Toshiba, others). Only one side records, but you can play on both sides. Recording from FM stations results in very good quality for sound playback. I have not tried CD or LP-based recording yet but expect it would be the same. I had previously purchased Pyle Driver speaker components (woofers) with good results and reliability so I decided to try this unit - and am very satisfied. The shipping was not a problem at all, as the unit arrived very well packed and shielded. I would recommend stereo components from this vendor very highly.
