Excellent, steel cut oats! Irish!
There is no better steel cut oats than these. Iโve been eating McCannโs Irish oatmeal forever.. and before it became popular, I was soaking my oats. I soak them overnight. I donโt even cook them the next day. I just eat them with cinnamon or whatever I wanna do I could scoop it and put it in my smoothie. Itโs just delicious.. no butter oatmeal and I have another favorite but this oneโs the best!

Never disappoints!
Fantastic as always! I add more water and cook them longer for a creamier texture. Add some peanut butter (just peanuts, nothing added), honey, and cinnamonโฆand banana slices if you feel like itโฆand youโll have a filling and nutritious breakfast.

Easy to prepare oatmeal
Fantastic health, benefits, and taste. I soak it overnight in milk and have it for breakfast. No need to stand over the stove and cook it. Much tastier than the quickie brands.

A Breakfast Experience That Builds Character
Ah, McCannโs Irish Traditional Steel Cut Oatmealโthe breakfast of champions, philosophers, and those with an abundance of free time. In a world filled with instant gratification and oatmeal thatโs ready in 90 seconds, McCannโs boldly challenges you to earn your breakfast, one painstakingly long-simmered bite at a time. From the moment you open the tin, you know youโre in for something special. These oats are not for the faint of heart. No, they require patience, fortitude, and perhaps a minor existential crisis while you watch them cook for 30 to 40 minutes. By the time theyโre ready, youโll have completed a full morningโs worth of soul-searching, planned your entire week, and questioned all your life choices. But the payoff? Oh, the payoff! McCannโs doesnโt just nourish your bodyโit forges your spirit. Each spoonful is a textural masterpiece, the chewy steel-cut oats offering the kind of resistance you just donโt get with those spineless, mushy rolled oats. The flavor is pure, earthy, and unapologetically oaty, making you feel as if youโve been transported to the rolling green hills of Ireland, where a hearty breakfast is the only thing standing between you and the elements. And letโs talk about versatility! Add honey, nuts, fruit, or even a splash of whiskey if youโre truly embracing your inner Irish poet. However you dress it up, McCannโs delivers a breakfast experience that is as much a lesson in patience as it is in nourishment. So, if youโre looking for a bowl of oats that will toughen you up, make you appreciate the passage of time, and remind you that good things come to those who waitโMcCannโs is for you. And if youโre in a rush? Wellโฆthereโs always instant oatmeal, but whereโs the dignity in that?

Love these Oats! Tin was strangely missing a lid though
I love these oats they are truly the absolute best steel cut oats Iโve ever tried, delicious and hearty - I donโt see how people can eat quick oats ever again after Having authentic Irish Steel Cut oats! I ordered two tins of this lovely product, one for me and one for my folks. got both cans quickly but one can was missing the tin lid. Still has the aluminum safety fresh seal but the tin top was missing. Fortunately I had saved my last can and could reuse the lid on the new tin of oats.

Worth the wait.
If you have the time to wait the 40 to 60 minutes required for preparation, the eating is glorious. Whether you prefer buttermilk, butter, cream or skim milk, it is always delicious and curbs hunger for at least three hours ( for me) ;sometimes as long as six. Be sure to add a bit of salt to the preparation water ( or milk ). I have never tried the overnight soaking. I use the well known American brand oatmeal for cookies, never for breakfast.

Mccann, flahavans, bobs compare
Mccann steel cut good texture, flavour. Preferred by daughter. Longest prep time, not for rushed mornings. 4:1 ratio, so good value. but after 30min, not that creamy yet. Unable แนญo compare with BRM steel cut, as it was finished a week ago. BRM scottish oats nice texture, flavour. Easy to prep, sits between steel cut n rolled oats. 3:1 ratio Mccann rolled oats smooth texture, unusual but mild flavour compared to the others. Can't pinpoint the taste. 2:1, but can probably increase to 2.5:1 Flahavan rolled oats very neutral n very mild flavour, can do with higher ratio of water to oats. Good for intro to oats. 2:1, but can probably increase to 2.5:1 Did not taste against quakers. In conclusion, for rolled or scottish, prefer BRM Scottish for flavour, texture, same ease of prep, mildly cheaper. For steel cut, then the Mccann or ?BRM. Yr results may vary
