Manfrotto MT190XPRO3 Aluminum 3-Section Tripod,Black

I am a reasonably serious amateur photographer and bought this to replace a 45 year old (really) Vivitar tripod that finally wore out. I was 16 then and am 61 now and so wanted a tripod that would last another 45 years. The Manfrotto 190 is a superb, mid-weight tripod. Coupled with a stout ball head or gimbal head, this tripod is steady even in a moderate wind. The clamp-style legs are smooth and easy to adjust. The center column is stiff and will extend out 90 degrees if you need that. I managed to drag the tripod through sand and surf on one outing, and with an Allen wrench and 8 mm socket I was able to disassemble and clean it easily. At 4.5 pounds and 23" folded it is not a travel tripod. But it will handle my Canon with a 400mm lens and extender without complaint. If you really need a heavy tripod (for a super telephoto or for semi-pro video) you'll be happier with the Manfrotto 055 series or an appropriate Gitzo or Induro tripod. This 190 series tripod is what I need for a mid-weight. I'll let you know in 45 years how it lasted. Recommended.

This thing is one well refined and solid device. I agree with the first poster about the arrow of the center column needing paint, other than that, it's a mean sleek machine. Pulling out the legs is a smooth and simple motion of itself. There are a few 'stops' that a leg can hit, the silver button lets the user go past those...for general use though, it isn't necessary to even interact with the leg buttons. Each leg brace is metal! I love that. The thumb grips are plastic with a slick metal slot interlocked through at the factory that pulls the (metal brace) tight to the perfect tension. Great tripod, can't wait to try it out. A bit more than the 055 but I am glad the 190 now been redesigned this way. It is a pound less than the 055 but only 2" shorter column down. Put a head of your choice on and good to go! The rubber leg cozies are high quality with a great look to top it all off!

This stand is probably one of the finest pieces of engineering I have seen in a long time. It's very stable and yet easy to manipulate and carry. It is a little bit heavier than I expected but not by much. I'm not crazy about the 90 degree rotating feature but I also use a joystick head on top of it. I do really like the locks they use for the legs which I find myself using all the time as I adjust the height of the tripod. I actually bought this to use with my DSLR but I like it so much I've started to use it with my spotting scope when I go to the range and pretty much any time I need a tripod. I would definitely recommend it.

I love Manfrotto gear. I have always been a fan of Manfrotto. After years of using inferior gear it’s an absolute pleasure having this tripod. I use it daily for product photography and portraits. I do wish it was taller since I use this tripod for product photos. When I use the 90 degree angle arm it does a great job but if the arm was a bit longer that would be nice and if the tripod was taller. But besides this I am really happy with it. No issues at all.

This tripod is wonderful! It's very sturdy, easy to put up and down, and the leg clips are convenient to use with one hand. Many great features, such as varying leg angles, center post that can go to a 90 degree angle for shooting straight down. The only drawback is that it is a bit heavy for carrying around on a hike. Since I usually shoot close to my car, it's perfect!

I bought this tripod for a travel shoot in Ireland It was good for stills and some video, I found that when I got back to my studio I used it for various assignments because of the weight and sturdy components

I've always wanted a professional tripod. This thing is amazing! The adjustments on this is seamless! The center pole comes out and flips over 90 degrees! The legs can also bend out so you can get to the ground!

I have not actually used it yet, but it looks to be exactly what I want to shoot in extremely cold weather.
