These stunning silver cubes are a late addition to our lineup. The various suppliers we work with have had generally poor experience working with precious metals. The process used in making the cubes was developed for industrial metals like steel and titanium so is overall quite inefficient. This generates a lot of wasted material that can't be recovered - or must at any rate be sold back to a precious metals refinery as scrap. A secondary problem is that silver is a soft metal which is a much more laborious process than structural metals which can be set on an industrial polisher on the press-go-and-come-back-in-the-morning setting. Silver (and indium, lead and a few others) must be polished manually one by one. If the polishing machine speeds up or slows down just a tiny fraction more than the specs call for the leading edge of the cube gets sheared off and that nearly finished cube goes back to the melter. The supplier, of course, has to amortize all the fails in along with the successes driving up the final cost way past what ten grams' worth of silver actually costs. With time it's hoped that they perfect the technique and get fewer failures so that the overall cost comes down. In the meantime, we have our first small consignment of just eight little 10mm cubes. Each one is absolutely perfect in every way with the super sharp edges and corners that instantly signals the very high level of workmanship that has gone into making them. Satisfaction guaranteed!! Weight is 10.66±0.02g
