Wild Mercy: Living the Fierce and Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics

I found this book to be very moving expanding healing and inspiring. It felt like a type of coming home to spirituality I’ve always felt internally but with words not just of the author but if several female mystics and within story. I grew up fundamentalist Christian but always had a stirring and feeling of the feminine divine and a sense of something missing or being downplayed on a feminine divine aspect. I’ve been on a journey relearning this wisdom inside of me of a wellspring of love and belonging within all of us. I read Clarissa Pinkola Estes books and am reading The Spiral Dance as well. I highly recommend those for anyone seeking feminine spiritual wisdom and healing.

This book sings to my heart and the way I see my world, honoring all wisdom lineages. I’m so happy to learn about the women mystics across traditions, and the poetic nature of her prose is so beautiful and nourishing for my heart.

Mirabai Starr is genius, always.

I set out purchasing this book because I was looking for something to reconnect me back to my mystic self. Life circumstances had me feeling unmoored and I knew that I just needed the right tools. That if I could access the language or perhaps enter a space that someone else had illuminated previously I would finally be able to breathe again. That life would not be perfect but that I would at least feel connected back to the story of life. This book gifted me that sweet and precious illuminating rest. Starr invites you to rest in the Mother’s lap and in the wisdom of the saints that have come before you and beside you. You are suddenly no longer alone. You are one thread in a tapestry being tended to by a vast and loving network of weavers. I will be reflecting on this book for quite sometime. And I will be forever grateful that I found it when I did.

Full disclosure, I am a huge fan of Mirabai's work. Her voice is true and earthy, despite her scholarly knowledge of interspirituality and ancient wisdom. The Divine Feminine is rising and rather than over power the masculine her desire is balance and integration, however like a mama bear she is called to love fiercly and be felt and heard (Mother Earth sure is being heard and felt). Wild Mercy by Mirabai Starr is my current favorite read, her unique voice opens my heart and encourages me to stay present with a world that can be both stunningly beautiful and horrific at the same time. Mirabai does an amazing job of speaking to our current state of affairs and folding in feminine mystics and their ancient, yet relevant, wisdom for today's world. I highly recommend it.... I've been thinking about an on line book club because I want to deepen the wisdom that Mirabai and this book awaken in me..... Oh so many fun ideas, so little time.

I’m in the middle of this gem and am entirely thrilled with the book. You can use it as a devotional: reading a section or two every morning. It’s already prompted me to renew a vigorous meditation practice. I’ve been curious for years about the spiritual themes that cross & unite religions, and am so happy to be reading about them as written by an intelligent insightful woman who delved deeply into them, experientially. She became so immersed in the universality that she can explain immensely complicated concepts simply and joyfully. She writes from a feminine both/and perspective that is engaging and rings true.

I really enjoyed the writing of this book and seeing the story of Jesus told from a feminine perspective.

I go back time and time again. So much wisdom and teachings, so much inspiration, and mirabai's stories of her own life are so wonderful. I recommend this to all the women in my life.
