Worked great!!
Thought I'd give any of you out there thinking about buying this my opinion. Used this only once, but conditions really put it through the test! Used it this past weekend at my sons JPW Football game and WOW was it raining, if you live in the Downey, CA area, you know what I'm talking about. I was worried but thought I'd put it through the test anyways. Afterwards, I was completely drenched, but camera was very dry. Like others say, yes it is on the long side, but I'd that's better than it being short and not fitting. Used it on my D300s with 80-200 attached to a monopod. Had no problem finding the viewfinder or getting my hand in there for zooming in and out. Pros: 1. Is that it does work, only used it once, but like I said, it was tested. Poured non-top for like 40 minutes. 2. You get two at a very low price, cant beat that. Cons: Only con I can say about this is the draw string. The idea seems fine, but once you adjust the size around the end of your lens hood, it's not going to just stay. I didnt wait to see if it would or if would slide up and down the lens. So I put some double sided tape at the end my lens hood to make sure it stayed in place.

Rain protection for SLR cameras
I bought this to protect my camera while on safari, except it did not rain during our trek. A year later I was finally able to put this to use on a trip to Iguazu Falls. It protected my camera from the mist from the falls, but I would not trust it in a heavy downfall. It is easy to apply to the camera, and I like that the part of the plastic that goes over the main body of the camera is not too long, so I’m not wading through lengths of plastic to find the viewfinder. The small size also makes it easy to carry in my bag. The plastic seems durable and reusable. This is a quality product. *This review was made in good faith based on my personal experience with the product. The seller did not request that I write this review, and I received no monetary or non-monetary compensation for this review.

Sturdy enough and well made to protect your gear from rain and snow.
Pros: Works well with my 7DII plus grip and 70-200mm f/2.8 lens in landscape orientation, even with the lens' tripod foot attached to a monopod. The opening for the viewfinder attaches between the camera and the camera's eyepiece cover. It may take you a couple of tries to get everything lined up well so that the eyepiece cover stays attached. Be sure and check to be sure it won't fall off and get lost! The cover keeps everything nice and dry, even in a downpour. Cons: There's just not enough room to use it in portrait orientation with the grip, keep the eye hole over the viewfinder, the lens attached to the monopod and keep the opening for my hands pointed down. The main reason for the grip is to have the extra set of controls for portrait orientation. Sigh. If you are the DIY type there is a workaround: Use Mailing Carton Sealing Tape Clear 3.0mil - 1PC - 1.89 in x 55 yds M to cover the built in hole and carefully cut your own hole to the side so that it lines up with your camera in portrait orientation. Pay close attention to the eyepiece cover staying secured as it is now slid on from the side instead of the top. This allows me to use the monopod with the top of the cover still up and the bottom with the hand opening still down. I also use the tape to reinforce around the eyepiece hole and repair any minor nicks to the plastic. If you place the tape against the plastic cover on the inside of the cover, the sticky side will not come in contact with your camera. It's easiest to place the tape so it won't interfere with the eyepiece cover if the both the rain cover and the eyepiece cover are attached to the camera when applying the tape. This allows me to reuse each cover quite a number of times.

Essential! Will always have this in my camera bag!
So glad I found this handy product through a photography blog link! A two pack of these for under $5 is a steal! The packaging is nice and thin, slid easily into my camera bag or day-pack, and I forgot I had them - until I needed them! On a trip to Paris, we encountered tons of rain, and of course it was on the day we were at the Eiffel Tower! The day would have been ruined if I hadn't had these Rainsleeves with us. We easily figured out how to fit it over my camera (I was using a Nikon D5100 with an 18-200mm lens) at a café and were back on our way again for the rest of the night. The Rainsleeve fits over the whole camera with a little hole that is pre-cut to fit over the viewfinder (you remove and refit your eyepiece to hold it in place). The other end is held around your lens with a drawstring. The bag is curved to naturally conform to your arm, and there is a lot of space inside for your hand to move around to the controls. Your other hand on the outside can easily move the lens, but the way I ended up fitting mine, it ended up being easier to leave part of the lens tube exposed when it was extended. (I wish the drawstring was replaced with elastic...it did get in the way sometimes). I use a Black Rapid RS-7 camera strap (which is another miraculous product worth every cent), and it worked fine with this product, but the Rainsleeves probably wouldn't work as well with a traditional camera strap (although you could probably use the bag "upside down" with the bend of it in the opposite direction. We realized we had inadvertently done this the entire first day we used it, with no real problem, there was enough surplus material that we didn't really notice). Even though the Rainsleeve was soaked the first night, my camera was dry (except the glass of the lens, which I will prepare better for in the future - make sure to have something to dry and buff those water spots!) We hung the Rainsleeve up to dry that night, and re-used it again the next day. I think we probably could have gotten one or two more uses out of it if we needed to, but luckily the rain stopped and we had the second one anyway. Keeping a nice little stock of these on hand for sure! What a great tool to have in a pinch - such a simple inexpensive solution to keep my $2000 set up working on our pricey picturesque vacation, even despite the weather! :)

Great in an emergency but has problems
I have a Canon 5D Mark II which is prone to water damage so bought this rain cover because it always seems to rain when I go to the Renaissance Festival. Well, its raining today off and on and I'm going anyway, so I opened the packaging and pulled one of the two out. It's kind of like a plastic bag shaped to go over your camera and lens. I slipped off my eye piece protector and pulled the bag over my Canon 135mm F/2 L lens and placed the opening around the eye piece and slipped the protector on then pulled the cord tight around the lens end. It's got a nice little slip cord release button that makes resizing a breeze. Bingo, instance emergency weather protection. But I get it on and start using it and right away there are two problems, one the slip cord end over the lens hood keeps slipping back towards the camera, I ended up using some gaphers tape to hold it to the hood. The other problem is you lose the use of your neck strap since it is hanging out the end. You really don't realize how much you use your neck strap until you can't use it. Still I'm out in effiy weather with ominous looking dark clouds and I feel safer then without it. Ok now it's starting to rain and my fingers are really getting wet so I have taken leaving my hand inside the cover on the camera at all times which is easy to do since taking it in and out of the camera bag is a pain anyway and the bag is getting wet. Still I'm out in the rain and taking photos and no problems so far with my 5D Mark II. Pros: Easy on and easy off Very good price point You get two with each order! Keeps your camera and lens dry Cons: Lens end keeps slipping back down barrel of lens No place or hole for neck strap so you have to carry camera entire time. Conclusion: Get a pack just in case but don't rely on this as your primary weather protection.

This rainsleeve is great!
I orderered this not too long ago and got it in 4-5 days. I didn't know they had 2, I thought it was only one but to my surprise I opened it to find 2! And good quality.....great smell too (lol)! Yes, the plastic smells nice. I have a DSLR A230 Sony camera and the hole placed in this rainsleeve, I am not sure how to attach it to my camera, but it still works good (if you aren't too picky), I can easily see through it to take a photo. The way the hole was placed, it pretty much stays where you look through your camera with a bit of adjustment when setting it up. It fits on the tripod too. It's a little baggy since I haven't yet bought larger lens, but it still works well and I don't find it hard to use. The shipping is great, it came in a plastic package like in the picture showing how to use it on the back, for a Canon. I will definitely use these when the time comes to do so!

Great way to protect your camera from the rain.
Do you really believe your camera manual when it says that the camera is weatherproof? I don't. So what do you do? Well there are high end solutions from companies like ThinkTank and they work very well. But you may not have the several hundred dollars that a full professional solution will cost. Fear not, there is an alternative... These OP/Tech rainsleeves are a great way to protect your camera gear from inclement weather and, to an certain extent, from dust and dirt. They are easy to fit with a drawstring for the lens and a hole to fit over the viewfinder. They are thick enough to protect the camera and lens and thin enough to allow you to operate the controls. These will fit a D500 with a 70 - 200 f/2.8 on it. With a bit of tape they can be made to work with zooms which extend on zooming such as the Tamron 150 - 600 too. They are a bit small for a pro body like a D4 though. These are a great solution for travel and other emergency needs. If you've got a $12k lens then you really should use the professional solutions but for everyone else give these a try and always keep a couple of these in your camera bag. One day they may save your gear.

Functional, But Not Great
Okay, so what did you expect for an item that sells for about the price of a Happy Meal? After shooting pictures at another high school activity in the rain (I've been a yearbook adviser for 36 years), I decided to purchase a camera cover. I actually purchased two different models. OP/TECH's 14-inch Rainsleeve and Cosmos' Camera Protector Rain cover. While I give the nod to the Cosmos product, here's my take on the OP/TECH: Pros -It's inexpensive--and the package contains two. -There is plenty of room for any size lens up to 7" in diameter and 14" in length, and any size flash. Note: There is a drawstring on the lens cover portion. -There is a hole that you can position over the viewfinder and lock in place with the camera's eyecup. -The plastic is thin enough that you can adjust controls through the plastic. -Even with my Canon EOS 40D, there is enough space inside the cover to hold the camera with one hand using the grip. Cons -To get the camera and the flash in the cover, it is necessary to first put in the flash and then reattach it to the camera after you have also placed the camera inside. -You will need a lens hood to cinch up the lens cover drawstring; otherwise, you will leave part of the lens exposed. -There is no reinforcement on the eye hole opening. As thin as the plastic is, tearing is a real possibility. In fact, the entire cover is made of a plastic about the same thickness as a food storage bag. Handle it carefully, or you could be dealing with multiple tears. -This cover is only large enough to hold the camera inside the bag with one hand. This may not be a huge issue for many photographers, but that's what I liked about the Cosmos' product in that it had two arm sleeves to allow you to hold the camera inside the cover. Overall, it appears to be very functional, and you can't quarrel with the price. Only time will tell as to how durable it is. RECOMMENDED

Unexpected result!
Bought because forecast said lots of rain during our trip to Wales. These little beauties worked in reverse - it didn’t rain a drop! Usually happens to me when I prepare properly. I can’t comment about wether they work or not but they are well made, fit nicely and are sturdy enough so I’m confident they will be OK. To be honest, I hope I never have to use them :o) but at least I’m ready.

Simple, Effective - Works Perfectly.
No need to look further for a basic rain sleeve or in my case snow. I used this outside during a snowstorm and it kept my camera, lens and remote trigger dry for the many hours I was shooting. While it can easily be used hand held, I used it on my tripod and it fit perfectly. The drawstring worked perfectly when I tightened it up around my lens hood so that the only exposed part of my gear was the front of the lens - and there's just no way past that. I carry one in my gear bag now all the time and keep the spare at home.
