Worth every penny
This little device has given my pup the freedom to explore safely, so it is absolutely worth every penny. I’ve had my 4 year old English Setter rescue for about a year and a half now, and we’ve had this collar for about four of those months. My pup has a very strong prey drive (surprise surprise) and LOVES to run. I have bought two previous e collars on Amazon that had good reviews and ended up being a complete joke. One of the collars even stopped working while my in-laws were watching her and she was lost for over four hours in lake country on the Fourth of July while I was across the country and helpless. ANYWAYS, all I can say is that the battery life of this collar is seriously amazing. We use it daily on walks, hikes, and when we go to the river and she swims. It has never been unresponsive, and our dog has learned to be more conscious of where we are while she’s running around (she even comes to check on us periodically before running again which I love). I cannot say enough about this collar. It has changed the game and made it possible for us to explore off leash, which has been my ultimate goal. THANK YOU

Excellent e-Collar
I’ve used the SportDog 850 collar for many years and it’s been a workhorse without any issues. This was purchased because I needed a bit more distance power for a new puppy that we’ll be taking though longer Field Trial stuff and I wanted to make sure that if she got out 500-700 yards, I could control her.Size wise it was a bit larger than the 850 both for the controller and the collar receiver. But not as large as the Dogtra or Garmin.I ordered all three and the two I really liked was this one and the Garmin Pro 550. The Dogtra Edge RT was nice but I didn’t like the controller. It had hard edges in the palm of your hand while holding it. Where the Garmin was very comfortable and smooth along with grippy. The two main reasons I went with SportDog was my experience with the 850 I had and the reviews on the Garmin that weren’t indicating it being well made and having issues.I also like the smaller controller than either the Garmin or Dogtra. I really like the 850’s controller and receiver size for when we’re out not hunting or training. If we go to dinner or to the park, it’s nice and small and makes it easy to keep the controller in your pocket.

Great range and dependable
I bought a sport dog collar 7 years ago and needed to finally replace it. My husband bought a cheaper collar that did not work well on my Huskey. the collar would not fit tight enough and kept loosening. I bought the sport dog with one mile range because i hike every morning with my huskey and he is off leash other than his ID/Whistle collar and the sport dog collar. I use the longer prongs that came with it due to the thickness of my dogs hair. He booked one morning chasing after a herd of deer and did not respond to our normal training and come commands and whistle sounds. He was gone and out of sight in a few seconds. He responded immediately to the static electric stimulation at a low setting of 3 and returned seconds later. It was such a relief to have something that snaps them out of their prey drive that quickly. Today he started running after some deer we came across but I only needed to alert him with the sound and he stopped and came right back. I am very happy and so is my dog that he can continue to go on long hikes off leash where he can run and get the exercise he needs.

Works like a charm
We bought this for our basset/beagle. He likes to roam, we like him to stay home. Problem is once he gets into our neighbors horse pasture, we can no longer physically obtain him unless our neighbor is home. That needed to stop. He’s a smart dog. He would look right at you, and ignore you calling him.Not anymore. We have worked with him that the tone is a come and get attention, and the vibration is that he’s out of his area. It’s become very effective in keeping him home.

Great product so far
I got to use this product yesterday for the first time I have a lab pointer mix, and a 1yr registered black lab (very hyper). I have trained both of them myself and have taught basic obedience prior to e collar. Both do very well will basic obedience, until they are with each other and just want to play. My pointer mix loves to get on a scent and meander off while the lab follows out of curiosity. After introducing the collars associated with commands and positive reinforcement. I had both their attentions in minutes. It will take time for them to get used to it. Love the product so far. Only thing I wish was different, would be on the intensity dial to have a indication when dial is in its lowest intensity. So I can tell where it is without looking and keep my eyes on my dogs. And have a reflective numbers for night, as my dogs respond to different stimulation so I am constantly switching back and forth. Other than that it’s a great product.

Great collar.
Replaced an older collar that was less waterproof. Have had great battery life and pretty good range. No issues with water. Set up can be a little complicated. Great collar for a water retrieving dog but a bit much for an upland hunter. Still great but more complicated than truly necessary.

Make sure this is really what you need.
We have several SportDog collars, and they work well and they are extremely reliable. This particular version differs in that the mechanics of using the collar differ somewhat, especially if one is interested in the health feature. The collar is a bit larger, and each time one puts the collar on your pet it takes several minutes to synchronize. As a result, it is likely useful for a day in the fields, but if one uses this for a few hikes or long walks each day, the synchronization is time-consuming and inconvenient. The other comment is that if one has used these collars in the past, the beep tone is quite muted, important if one has trained your companion to the tone rather than a shock, which is of course preferred. In noisy environments (eg by the ocean), it seemed our dog could not hear the tone at all.

1825x, best ecollar on the market
You won’t regret this purchase! It’s absolutely worth every penny, and I’ve gotten an add a dog collar to go with it! Easy to toggle from dog 1 to dog 2, and the varying types of stimulation is great based off training and progression! I have used this brand for MANY years, and several dogs, it never fails to provide what I need!

Unbelievable Product
In this review, you will find no bad comments about this product because I didn't have any! I purchased this product 3 years ago and used it almost every day at that time. This collar has been used in some cold and harsh environments and conditions but it still worked and performed as it should. My dog is a water dog and spends most of her time in the water so this tested the collar against water in all aspects as my dog even dives down to around 3ft, fresh water, salt water, and summer Temps to winter Temps below freezing this collar did not fail. Just recently I lost the remote and had it gone from September to April, yesterday as I was walking my dog down a path from my cabin I noticed something on the ground covered when I picked it up it was the lost remote! This remote has been through the whole fall, all winter covered in snow and freezing temperatures then through most of the spring with all the rain this remote has been through it all and still when I picked it up it had charged and worked I was SHOCKED! It is what made me write this review, this product works as advertised and performs above the others, if you are looking for a collar for your dog look no further this is the brand to get!

Do not buy this if you’re in Canada
The antenna snapped in half while I was putting on my backpack. Contacted the company and they would replace it for nearly $80. $35 American shipping fee. I regularly get things shipped from the states. It’s expensive. But $35usd for something half the size of a pen! And something that really shouldn’t break that easy on something built to be outside. I use a cheap Chinese model for my other hunting dog, it doesn’t have the range, but I’ve had it longer and it’s built MUCH sturdier… and cost less than replacing the tiny weak antenna on this one. Replacing parts in the US seems easy enough but keep in mind this thing isn’t built to last and replacement parts are ridiculous to get a hold of in Canada. I WOULD REALLY CONSIDER THIS IF LOOKING AT PURCHASING A REMOTE DOG TRAINER IN CANADA for use outdoors especially.
