Works fine
You get two in this pack, so it's affordable. It does contain chemicals to kill the lice. I liked the black comb, while others didn't. It makes it easy to see the nits, and gets really close to the scalp where the eggs are. I've got a stainless steel comb and purple one, but this makes it so much easier to see the little suckers.Added from my hours of reading about these creatures -I've tried all of the products, Rid, and the rest of the commercial shampoos, sprays, rinses, tea tree oil, peppermint oil, mayonnaise, olive oil, too many to mention.Head lice have been around for millions of years. Getting rid of them is very hard. They don't fly or jump, 98% of infestations come from head to head contact. All it takes is one louse. If it's a female it will lay up to 8 eggs a day. The eggs need to incubated like chicken eggs and will not survive if they aren't close to the scalp. A louse won't survive more than 24 hours away from a human head. The most important thing is to use a shampoo that has Permethrin. That will kill any lice and nymphs, but not their eggs. The eggs will hatch in 7 days, and so the problem continues. If you don't want to use chemicals on your child, then you will need to comb out all of the lice, nymphs and nits (eggs). Here's the thing. The nits are strongly attached to hair, usually within an inch of the scalp, especially around the nape of the neck, above the ears, and towards the forehead. You can use a lice comb to get them out, but it is very hard on dry hair. The best way to get them out is to have the hair wet, soaked with conditioner. Then they comb out rather easily. But, you have to do that every day for about 3 weeks. That's the problem. The eggs need to be completely gone. When you read a lot about head lice, sources tell you to wash clothes, bedding, everything in the house, etc. While you need to wash clothes and bedding, those are the source of infestation only about 2% of the time. So spend your effort in combing out nits. There is a prescription medicine Sklice that kills the lice, nymphs and eggs. I tried to get some today. Went to the doc, got a prescription, but since I have no insurance, 4 ounces (1 dose) cost $330.00.Good luck with your fight against these annoying little critters. It's not easy to get rid of them, but it can be done.

Good product but don't even try the comb that comes with it.
Good for price. They suggest to use it and two weeks latter do it again. After the first use I thought it worked but I still did the second application two weeks later, after washing clothing, sheets and cleaning everything during the two weeks and I have no more lice.I only gave it 4 stars because the comb that came with it is very dangerous. It's hard plastic with very flat pointed teeth that cut into the scalp. I tried to comb with the comb flat and it still catches to the skin so I ended up using an old metal comb I had.My doctor looked at my scalp and she was shocked. She said "What did you do? I looked like you scratched up my scalp." She ended up giving an medicine for Folliculitis because now I have all these scratches and bumps on my head.So in all good product but don't try the comb at all.

A Critical Part of a Very Effective Anti-Lice Regimen - Keeps My Daughter Lice Free in an Infested School
My daughter's school has a huge lice problem. We had lived near Chicago our entire lives and she never once got lice. About 7 months ago we moved to Florida and a month after starting school here she had a lice infestation. We got rid of the problem, started using a preventative shampoo, and instructed her to stop hugging her friends, sharing hairbands, etc. We didn't run into any more lice encounters until we ran out of the preventative shampoo she was using. Thinking the lice she had gotten was a fluke I let her go back to her usual shampoo. A few weeks later those disgusting crawly bugs were in here hair again. Mind you, I have six children, she is the only one who has ever gotten lice and the only one who attends that school, so I know the school is the problem and is somehow infested. So I talked to one of my daughter's friends moms. She confirmed my suspicions and told me what to do to keep my daughter's hair lice free.First I got rid of her second infestation with a three-step process made by RID. Then I had her wash her hair with this three days later. Every seven days, she washes her hair with this product. For shampooing between these shampooings she uses lice repellent shampoo that comes in a green bottle that is also sold on Amazon. So far, since using these two products together, she has remained completely lice free so far. The way I figure it, the repellant keeps most of the lice at bay and whatever does manage to get through, this stuff kills and gets rid of before a real problem occurs. If you have a child that is prone to lice because of the school they go to, I highly recommend this product. It hasn't been damaging to her hair and it has been keeping her lice free in an obviously-infested school environment.

Definitely seemed to work for us
This worked really well. I don't like using toxins on my child, but she has a LOT of hair, and I never even saw a louse, even though her head was itching terribly. Finally, after nit-combing her hair like 20 times, I finally stumbled on two eggs. So, I really didn't feel confident relying just on just combing, which works for some people. I also used this in conjunction with LiceFreeee Spray, so I can't say that didn't help, but my daughter noticed a next-day improvement after using this shampoo. First, I used a drugstore brand lice shampoo, because that was all I could find once I realized she did have lice. Nothing. Then I ordered this and LiceFreee Spray. I used the shampoo, and she started feeling better. Fearing I couldn't get all the nits, I used LiceFreee Spray (which supposedly dehydrates both lice and eggs) and combed. It seems like a good combination. Did this a second time, just to make sure there wasn't a second batch hatching, and we seem to be done. (Knock on wood.)
