Audio Technica AT90 - Phono Cartridge

I am going to say upfront that I have been playing records for over 50 years - I know turntables inside and out and even restore them. This is the cartridge I install in many turntables I restore for the following reasons.... the conical stylus is more forgiving of surface noise, granted at a sacrifice of ultimate detail. It's a trade-off that you need to weigh out. One key aspect of this cartridge that you need to weigh is the weight that it tracks at... a modest 1.25 grams. That is less than ANY new turntable on the market. The sound character is neutral. No pumped-up bass like a DJ cartridge, but no brilliant sizzle top end like many cheapies in the same price range. This is an excellent, well balanced cartridge for a vintage turntable - both S shape arm and the lower mass straight arms of the 1980's. If you have a collection of really clean records, consider stepping up to AT92E with it's .3 x .7 mil tip. More midrange detail and wider imaging for around the same money.

This cartridge was used to replace the original cartridge in my Techniques turntable SL-BD1. It mounted perfectly and tracked perfectly without the need to re-adjust the tone arm. The sound was exceptionally good and I was quite surprised that it sounded better than the original even though the price was so reasonable. I would recommend this cartridge.

This cartridge will pump out some tunes. The stylus is easy to clean because it is round. It is easy to install also because of the stylus. I downgraded from the AT311EP and noticed a slight lack of full range and clarity. Despite that downgrade, it was a good value. I will use it for about a year or two and then go back to the 311 or maybe even up to the AT95E if I'm feeling rich.

Excellent replacement cartridge [Akai AP-Q60 (1981 Player)] it works very well. The only problem that I have with this product at all (as a non audiophile) is the hard installation. The screws and washers/nuts to screw it onto the holding thing was difficult and really frustrating, I would prefer just a regular screw like how my previous cartridge worked. Similarly, when attacking the back end to the cartridge I could never get the screw to fit through the hole since it didn't overlay the screws properly. Nothing killing but just a really frustrating time installing it.

The item was easy to install, ready to go, and in excellent shape. I was jamming to some music within a minute once I got the item out of its packaging. The product also seems to preserve the entire spectrum of sound, as the sound from the records were authentic in every way. This replacement needle is just as good as the original, and is suitable for audiophiles like myself. My only word of caution is to be careful getting it out of its packaging, and to make sure the pins align with the arm mount itself.

The product fit perfectly and works well with my Technics SL-BD27 turntable. Because I'm not an over the top audiophile, I can't comment on the quality of the sound or the harmonics. I just know that my turntable is working as intended - I can listen to my LPs once again. That's all I was aiming for when I made the purchase.

Shockingly good cartridge for the price. A little warmer than I prefer, but most people like a warmer sound. The adapter that let's you turn the P mount design into a standard mount actually makes mounting the cartridge on your tonearm much easier than a normal standard mount cartridge.

i recieved the cartridge quickly and packaged good,, the item was in new package, i opened it up to install, the needle was defective,crooked,, possibly manufactured the wrong way and would not play properly,

Fits. Works. And yes, this is universal. It should fit most setups that have the P-mount system. If you have something old and have been going through lists of cartridges and compatibilities, in most cases this will work for you.

My god thanks a lot..I'm hearing music from my record player after long 8 years..thanks to amazon...very cheapest price..I have ordered one more.....its universal can match any record players

Excellent product, exactly as advertised. Replacement stylus alone is more expensive at traditional retailers than complete cartridge at Amazon. Fast delivery (2 days). Watch out you traditional bricks and mortar retailers - Amazon is going t get you.
