The Body Shop Body Butter

This product is a miracle. I initially ordered it for a rash I keep getting on my hands. It is helping and the rash seems to be dissipating in the mean while the blisters don’t hurt and burn so much and the skin on my hands look so soft. I tried using this on my face and not even a week later the results are shocking. It’s made a noticeable difference with easing vdeep wrinkles and totally took away the smaller lines around my eyes and mouth !! Nothing they are gone. I’ve bought some very expensive skin care products and not one product I’ve wasted my money on has come even close to these amazing and visible results I’ll use Hemp from now on every day. This product is the consistency of “Vick’s” so use very sparingly. The jar is small but because a little goes a very long way you get more than your money’s worth. I believe you will be pleased with this product both for annoying rashes as well as a beautiful skin care product. The smell is not that great but disapates quickly leaving a pleasing trace odor. I also take 2 Hemp pills every night to help me sleep, now I sleep so deeply and I sleep through the night now waking up feeling great “well rested”. I’m so impressed and thrilled that an age old product has so many uses and with n beautiful results. It seems that as the years have gone by Hemp is being used to help with so many medical issues. I have tried several and they sit on top of my skin. I always go back to this Hemp moisture protector even though the price is a bit more. It soaks in beautifully leaving my skin soft. I have tattoos and use after every shower, the dermatologist asked my how 10 year old tattoos could still look so good..she was surprised and wrote down the product. Hands too, love it in the harsh winter!

I’ve used other body butters by the body shop before, and I love the formula. So although I loved coconut all around I wasn’t much a fan of the smell of Shea. So I looked at the scent here and wanted to try it out. Pop I was confused upon opening because the formula is definitely different for this one (which I later learned was because it’s meant for sensitive skin). This one is definitely creamier. The texture is much more like a lotion than the other body butter scents. I also had a harder time getting this to soak into my skin (I use after shaving my legs). As for the scent, it is weaker than the others. For people with sensitive skin that’s indeed a good thing, but I personally had to let this scent grow on me. Comparing the almond honey to coconut, the formula is different. I almost would describe coconut as wax ire, but I’m unsure it’s the correct term to use here. Overall these are the differences I noticed not having sensitive skin. If you do have it, know that there is still a bit of scent in this one in case that bothers you. February 24/2021: I have repurchased with the argan scent. I took one whiff and thought “tuberose!” (I love white flowers). After some googling, I found out argan oil can smell like manure. It’s an indolic scent, aka why it reminded me of tuberose! Honestly if you don’t like indole perfumes (they can be strong and remind some of poop) you probably won’t like the argan scent, but personally I love it. It’s so sweet it’s almost a floral. 5/5 for argan!

I started using this in the 90’s and it’s as great as it was then. If you have dry skin and are looking for a thick cream, give this a try. It is very hydrating and the fact that it’s natural and vegan is another reason to try it. I enjoy the smell but it’s really hard to describe.

Even with the best sunscreen, I start to burn after less than two hours, regardless of whether I was swimming or not. Being a redhead with skin reflecting sunlight and blinding passing drivers will have that effect. Not one single product advertising as sunburn treatment has helped relieve the pain nor prevent peeling. In fact, aloe products result in drying my skin out or that I reapply it over and over and over again. Then I discovered I have none left, couldn't go to the store to get any either. I did, however, have this on hand, seeing as it does wonders for relieving the pain and itching from my eczema patches. I applied it and the relief was immediate. I only needed to apply it after a shower and before going to bed. Rather than taking a couple weeks to go from red to peeling, the sunburn was gone within days with no peeling nor itching. Before the price went up to this outrageous $40, I purchased several more of these. Now that it's out of my price range, I'm unable to afford more than one. I had to resort to just putting it on eczema patches and particularly itchy spots, or sunburns (though with the extreme heat, fire, and sun, I spend my summers in hiding now). Sure, it's greasy and heavy, but it's effective at bringing me relief. That relief is all that matters as far as I'm concerned.

I do absolutely love this but giving it a one star review because it does not smell like it used to. I held onto the older version for dear life because I didn’t think they were gonna make this again. When I did the smell test, there’s a difference; it’s not the same. I later read somewhere online (a review) where someone else said the same thing.

Very hydrating and the fragrance stayed on my skin throughout the day. It’s thick and makes skin soft.
