Great ring overall and perfect fit. My biggest trouble is that I often neglect to look closely at the product photos. If I had, I would have seen that the amethyst is flat on the surface, and not beveled. The beveling is on the underside.

The face of the stone is completely flat - it does NOT look like the picture, as it is not faceted on the face, as the picture would lead you to believe. The face of the stone also sits slightly below the level of the setting. The metal portion of the ring is beautiful, as pictured. It is a gift for my son, whose birthstone is amethyst and who loves the color purple. I think he will like it and will wear it, as he is 12 years old and may not notice that there are no facets in the face of the stone. However, I was personally disappointed when I opened the box and saw the stone.

Very nice cut and design and color

The amethyst cut is not as shown in the picture, its more flat. The gem is also inset deep into the ring, to the extent that the silver stands up over the gem significantly. The amethyst almost immediately came loose and it makes a jingling sound every time I move my right hand. Its still a silver and amethyst ring though, and the floral/curvy design looks neat so I'll keep it. Just beware its not exactly as shown in the product pictures.

The ring was sized right however the picture depicts a multi faceted stone and mine arrived smooth and flush with the setting. The setting is also a little tall and is a small snag hazard.Other than the stone and setting the design of the ring is nice. It also wears comfortably. I should have sent back but will keep and melt down to use on something else.
