Hamilton Beach Full Size Garment Steamer

I work in retail, so I am used to using industrial size steamers. I am amazed at how well this steamer works in comparison- for one, it heats up fairly quickly (I would say in about a minute). I had over a dozen things to steam, including blazers, collared dress shirts, cotton dresses and shirts, and even a tulle dress. The steamer worked well on all of the clothing I had to steam although it did take me longer to steam the fabrics that weren't cotton, which is certainly to be expected. I have not yet tried the press attachment that it comes with to crease any dress pants. The instructions recommend that you begin steaming the garments at the top and gradually move down but I find it best to begin at the bottom of the garment so the steam can rise and penetrate the wrinkles above; this saves a lot of time. I'd also recommend only using distilled water for this product to prevent mineral build-up in the steamer.There are a couple of (minor) complaints I have about this product. It arrived one day late, which upset me considering I paid for express shipping. Also, I am petite (5' 3") and found myself having to crouch down to steam the bottom of my clothing- even shirts- because of the height of the pole. I would have preferred the pole to extend a bit higher, but I am satisfied with how easily it folds down for storage. I was able to fix this problem by hanging my garments on the curtain rod in my bathroom. I am very comfortable using steamers and have never burned myself before, however while using this steamer, the condensation dripped and burned me twice; make sure while using this that you keep your bare feet a safe distance away and hold the handle at an angle at all times! While I was steaming my garments on the attached pole, the hose kinked a couple of times and I had to straighten it out every few minutes so that the steam would come out. This only happened when I was steaming the bottom of garments. My last complaint was that the hose smells strongly of rubber, however, I'm sure the smell will fade away soon.In all, this steamer is just as effective as an industrial steamer in removing wrinkles and it also takes up far less space. The cord wraps up conveniently under the bottom and the pole folds down easily, perfect for storage in a small closet or even under a desk. The cord does not extend very far but that is a non-issue if you are able to use it close to an outlet (otherwise you could purchase an extension cord and still spend less money than you would on an industrial steamer). For people with a limited budget or limited storage space, this steamer is great. It's very simple to put together and use, and I'm very happy with the results it produces.

This is a great product. Easy to use and works every time. The water storage is plentiful so you do not have to refill for long periods of time. Steam is formed quickly (under a minute) and it has a long reach so easy to use. You can hang your clothing on a hanger directly on the steamer, but it might have been better if it had an attachment for hanging dresses and longer garments. Overall very good product for the price!

No Stars! But a review is prevented from submission without "rating". If you have to sit on a footstool to properly operate this device, we firmly believe it is disfunctional. The steam pressure is insufficient to emit steam to a garment hanging on the device-provided hanger loop - with the exception the very bottom of the garment. As the steam head is raised to a height of about mid-garment, the steam stops emitting from the head of the device. Absolutely terrible. Ours is being returned today. What a disaster!

Brand new and it leaks where the hose connects at the base. A little utility tape and it still does its job better than a conventional iron.

This product did not do what I had hoped it would. It did help remove or reduce some of the wrinkles, but it takes way too much time to be effective on any one area, and my hand and arm get just as tired or even more tired and sore.The instructions say that the garment should be hung by a clothes hanger from the pole built into the unit. When I do that, there is nothing that “forces” the steam into the fabric. The steam drifts out of the unit, and only some of it goes into the garment. There is no power behind the steam to force it into the fabric. I can only hold the wand near to or touching the fabric and wait for it to have an effect. It seems to me like it would be more effective if the steam were being forced into the fabric by a fan or some other type of method or device. It may be that the manufacturer does not want to include such a feature because of a concern about scalding, but whatever the reason the steamer just does not seem very effective to me.In order to make it work you have to hold the wand close to the fabric and then wait, and it seems to require too much time for me. It ends up taking at least as much time as ironing would, and my hand and arm become just as tired or even more so because of the time and the weight of the wand. With an iron, you can place or rest the iron on the surface of the ironing board and then slide it, but with this you have to hold it all of the time and also move it around. My shoulder and arm became tired fairly quickly. It just does not seem effective, and does not save any time or energy for me.

My experience with this product has been nothing but wonderful. I feet that the item is priced well. It functions as good but far less expensive than most. The steamer was packed well, arrived earlier than expected and when I took it out of the box and fired it up it functioned great. I have had it for a month or so, and just love having it. If your looking for one I would recommend it for the reasons stated above and only hope you have as good of an experience as I had.

I wanted a unit that would stand up to many uses. This unit is well built and easy to assemble. Heats quickly and has a large reservoir so you don't waste time refilling. It is compact and easy to store in a closet. I expect to have this unit around for many years.

For steaming my silk summer dresses, this works just find. But when it comes to wrinkled linen, it didn't do as great a job. No matter how much I steamed away, the wrinkles didn't come out. Luckily I don't own a lot of linen, so it's not a huge problem.

El tanque de agua no embona bien y esto provoca escurrimientos de agua. La manguera del vapor se dobla por dentro y obstruye el paso uniforme del vapor. Esto requiere estar constantemente desdoblando la manguera para reanudar el flujo del vapor.Se requiere aprender la técnica para quitar arrugas de ropa colgante y aunque creo que por el precio es casi adecuado, esperaba algo de mejor calidad. No la pienso regresar y sí la usaremos.

Nightmare!!! This products leaked a lot of water and sometimes I would have a big but a big puddle of water..
