Physics for Scientists and Engineers: A Strategic Approach with Modern Physics (3rd Edition)

Great textbook
This textbook is a real joy. Dr. Knight knows physics, but most importantly, he knows how to teach it. He makes things easy to understand. After having read more than one (bad) physics textbooks, I can confidently declare that if you want to learn physics successfully, you should look no further.

Greatest Physics Textbook
This book is excellent and a must have if you're taking Physics in college.Seriously, you won't survive without it. I took two Physics classes in college and I had to rely heavily on the book due to the fact that A) my teachers couldn't teach, and B) we simply didn't have enough time in class to discuss everything, so this book taught me everything I know in Physics. The explanations are thorough and the book contains many examples of problems and are solved logically and mathematically. It's very helpful to study from.I purchased the hard-cover version of the book so it was extremely heavy, but it hold up really well and the pages are made of excellent quality. This is by far the best textbook I've ever had. I actually had fun reading it (call me a nerd, whatever...)

So cheap!!
Most textbooks are very expensive but I was very glad to find this one at such a low cost. Very helpful!

This has honestly been one of the best physics texts I have ever worked with
This has honestly been one of the best physics texts I have ever worked with. The chapters are very well thought out and designed, and the author has clearly made a point of justifying the equations and variables he uses in examples. I believe the greatest strength of this text, however, are the end of chapter problems. A lot of texts use problems that are exceptionally difficult for those new to the subject, relying on knowledge from later chapters. Knight has developed a sequence of problems that both mirror the examples provided, but add in minor difficulties over time to really help grasp the material. Highly recommended for adoption and as a reference text.

Very personably written...
This book does a great job of presenting ideas and laying out theory in plain English, which makes it very approachable. The downfall of the text lays in the applications, where the example problems are worked through in a way that isn't compatible with how a person normally works through a problem. In stead of simply showing the math, like you would doing your homework, Knight's approach does a little math, then he writes at length using words what he's doing to solve the problem. When working through a problem set, it's nice to see how the math should be laid out, solve this, then you find this, here's where we're heading, because we need to find this variable. Instead, you'll be working on your problem set and you'll look for an example problem in the text to help you build your mathematical roadmap, but instead you're met with a lot of description, and, of course, like all textbooks, Knight skips the algebra and geometry. This is annoying. I don't care if an example takes up an entire page, just so long as it's thorough and shows the reader in step-by-step process of the logic and complete mathematics.Nevertheless, the plain English voice is a breath of fresh air, particularly since the book is billed for "scientists and engineers." Thankfully, also the book is image filled, showing direct examples of the classical mechanics and modern physics in action.

I like physics now
I hated bad lectures and physics. After studying with this book, I realized that I still hate bad lectures, and that physics is actually quite interesting and not too formidable a topic. I had these realizations after my lecturer was horrible and I ended up basically teaching myself by reading this book.It explains everything clearly, and you can just chuck this heavy book down to the stage and knock out the lecturer so you can get some quality learning done. Just kidding, don't hurt people. But I think this is probably the first textbook I actually liked.

I needed the book urgently, and as they had promised, I got it early!
The textbook is hardcovered and it comes with the access code, but still cheaper than my school's book store. I feared that I could receive the book late but, thank God I got it it super early. About the textbook, my teacher barely gives us notes, but thanks to this book, I do not feel disdavantaged at all, the explanations are very clear and the examples they give make you start to think like a scientist. Awesome!!!

Well...
I needed this book for my college physics class, while it came on time, early, in fact, the packing itself, to me, was disrespectful. If you have a customer who is paying 120+ dollars for a single book, do us all a favor and at least place it in the carton nicely. When I opened my package the back cover and several of the pages were folded backwards because whoever packed it obviously flung it in there. Not. Happy.

quality content
Bought the item used, but it did not look like it instead it looks new. I found the book helpful with my studies since it has good diagrams illustrating a topic efficiently. Cons is that book is expensive when bought new
