They're okay but they're not the best

Recently, the knives my roommate and I have been using have grown dull. It seems no matter how often we sharpen them, in a week or so they immediately start to go dull again. Therefore, I was happy to use and test this BLACK CERAMIC KNIFE 9 PIECE SET from Kitchen Royal. In aesthetic terms, this set of knives is gorgeous. Made from black ceramic, these knives are supposed to be easier to clean and longer lasting white ceramic knives. The handle of the knives are made with a rubber coating and are easy to hold. The blades themselves are quite sharp and cut through vegetables and fruits with easy. This kit contains a total of four different knives (5.9”, 4.9”, 3.9”, and 2.9” inches), a knife sheath for each of the knives and a vegetable peeler. I have used these knives for over a month now and, for the most part, I have been quite happy with them. The only issue I have had is that the 2.9” knife already has a couple of nicks in it. I have been careful in the use and cleaning of this knife. For instance, they have only been hand-washed and have only been used to cut fruits and vegetables. However, during the second week of use with this knife, I noticed a small nick in it. A about a week later, there was another one. I realize that ceramic knives aren’t as strong as metal ones, but there’s no reason there should be two nicks in one after only using it to cut a few fruits and vegetables. Therefore, although I really have enjoyed this BLACK CERAMIC KNIFE 9 PIECE SET, it doesn’t get the best rating because it seems to get nicks rather easily.

When these aren’t falling apart in your hands, they are great! Unfortunately after only a few years of use, I had one simply come apart as I was slicing a mango with no warning at all. I’m glad my son wasn’t using it as the knives are VERY sharp.

I really like these ceramic knives a lot. They do a great job of cutting and slicing, as they are extremely sharp. I also like the black finish. The knives are easy to use, and, because they are so sharp, I like the fact that they each come with a hard plastic sheath, as the knives can then be put safely away in a drawer without worrying about someone inadvertently cutting themselves. The plastic sheaths have cute little apple cutouts on them, adding a nice decorative touch. There is also an accompanying vegetable/fruit peeler that works quite well. The four knives, four sheaths, and the peeler constitute the nine pieces in the set.I received this set in exchange for an honest review.

The set comes with a 6", 5" 4" and 3" ceramic knives with a sheath for each knife. The ninth item is a vegetable peeler.The sheathes are to protect the blades from accidental damage and to protect the user from accidental cuts. These knives are extremely sharp and should only be taken out of the sheathes when ready for use.Ceramic knives are designed to cut vegetables and boneless meats. They should not be used the way ordinary knives are sometimes used - to pry open items, to press items such as garlic or to loosen lids. Ceramic knives can and will chip and/or shatter if used incorrectly.These knives are very sharp and do not need sharpening. They should retain their sharp blade for a very long time. The knives are very easy to clean. They do not interact with the food so a simple rinse and proper drying is all you should need.The handles are ergonomically designed and fit rather nicely in your hand. They appear to be very durable.I prefer ceramic knives for cutting vegetables and boneless meat. Cutting/slicing is so much easier with a ceramic knife. These knives will make an excellent gift or will be a great addition to your kitchen set of knives.They are priced very reasonable. I have one ceramic knife that was more expensive than this entire set. This set contains four black ceramic knives (blades are 3", 4", 5" and 6") and a black ceramic vegetable peeler (the cutting edge is ceramic). I've been using them in my kitchen for a couple of weeks now, and I really love them. They are extremely sharp and quickly cut, slice and chop. It's canning season right now, and I've enjoyed the 6" knife the most as I chop tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers and other garden produce prior to canning or dehydrating them. The 4" fruit knife is my favorite for making very thin slices of tomatoes and cucumber for sandwiches.I hand wash these knives but they are dishwasher safe. I also love the individual plastic cases that come with each knife, so I can store them in a drawer and not worry about one of the kids cutting themselves. For the price, this is a really good quality set and if you've ever used a ceramic knife you know that regular metal knives can't compare.Features:- black ceramic is more attractive (to me) than the usual white ceramic knives, and is supposedly sharper too- ceramic doesn't rust, stain or give off chemicals, and can be washed in the dishwasher- comfortable, ergonomic handles, slightly textured to give better grip- super, super sharp blades that never need sharpening- protective cases on the knives protects your fingers and the blades- ceramic vegetable peeler makes quick work of peeling carrots, cucumbers or potatoes- attractive box perfect for housewarming gift or wedding giftI received a complimentary set of Kitchen Royal ceramic knives for testing and review purposes.
