FEATURES โข New section on pediatric and burn rehabilitation โข Cutting-edge rehabilitation techniques โข Increased coverage of evidence-based medicine, including interventional medicine Review: great handbook - used in on my 4th year medical school elective rotations in PM&R, kept it on my iphone and was able to use it as a reference, could read chapters on downtime, a little difficult to read on iphone because of screen size but that's expected. Great review for the wards and for boards
Great book to reference while in training and even better book to review and study for the boards. Would recommend the Kindle version for access anytime, anywhere. Also, the highlighting and note taking function is awesome. Would buy it again.

Not High Yield
this book doesn't compare to the former PMR pocketpedia and here's why: the older version (black and orange) book was written by PMR docs who had taken the boards and highlighted the material that is most tested on the PMR boards, at the same time had all the high yield material that every PMR resident should know. This book is low yield in terms of board prep. unfortunately the older versions are selling for outrageous amount of money on amazon. there is no difference between this pocketpedia and the oxford PMR pocketpedia.

but it is good for what it is meant
Seems a little disorganized and lacking some details, but it is good for what it is meant.

Cons outweighed the Pros by a mile !!
Regarding the 2nd edition (2012): Cons Outweighed the Pros by a mile ! Pros: Catchy cover - comestic change Well tabulated contents Huge coverage with > 30pages on electroDx fronts are more readable and appealing (bigger in size too) Cons: Slightly bigger size about 20% bigger form than 1st edition. Important topics NOT updated such as current Rx for DVT/VTE: the Newer oral anticoags (Rivaroxaban etc) Not coverd or mentioned, literally unchanged info from the 2003 edition so the chapter is very much outdated. very disappointing. Missing was also important management description in topics such as Autonomic Dysreflexia. There was as good explanation of the AD mechanism but very cursory touch on its treatment (compared to the 1st edition where a pretty comprehensive outline was printed). very disappointing. Missing was the useful chapters on: Immobility; Orthotics; Diagnostic Imaging. A few of the photos of actual prosthesis (adapted from Braddom) were Underdeveloped : too dark to see some of the features in the photo: example: Prosthetic Knee joint and the UE TR Body powered prosthesis. Disappointing. Could have been much better made use of the space with More updates which Did not happen. If you have the 1st edition then you do not really need to get this as the changes are not great enough to justify an actual upgrade - stick with the 1st ed !!

Too brief?...few practical contents?....
It`s ok but only if you want to refresh or have very general ideas of rehab topics. I woud have expected more practical contents in order to take advantage of such a portable resource.

Good primer
I would recommend reading this at the beginning of the Residency/Speciality Training period. It is too basic for the whole 4 yr programme but gets you used to concepts that you can look up in more detail in other text books.
