234RC Monopod Swivel Head with Quick Release and Two Replacement Plates for The RC2 Rapid Connect Adapter

Very sturdy. As advertised. Very happy with purchase!

I mainly use the mounting plate for quick release/quick mount of my camera to the tripod or monopod. The tilt is very solid when tightened down, but there is a bit of mechanical interplay when tightening such that the swivel head wanders a bit. I have to hold the swivel head in place while tightening the screw so that the camera remains aimed in correctly.

Very nice little swivel head. Using it on my mono-pod, so now matches the ball-head I have on my tripod. Have been loading up my cameras and long lens with the mount plates, so when moving quickly it's easy to switch around or to quickly stop using the monopod. Attached one of the mount plates with a nut and washer to a strap on my camera backpack. So, now I just slide the monopod through a loop and then attach it to the attached mount plate and it's secure. Quick and easy.Did notice that the mount plates were not identical to the ones I'd bought a few years ago, and I don't have the same comfort with these when I use it with the ball head. The older mount plates work fine with this head though. That's my only disappointment.

I use this on a carbon fiber monopod with an SLR camera in video live view mode. On a monopod this is much easier to use and much lighter weight than a gimbal or camera stabilizer. The ability to angle the head on the monopod solves numerous problems. With a little practice hold the monopod/camera just off the ground and use the tilt feature of the swivel head to balance the camera and lens in the horizontal plane. You now have the equivalent of a camera stabilizer but much more versatile. You can easily do walking or tracking shots, even birds.

I bought this head to make life easier when I use my monopod. I would usually screw the monopod into the bottom of my camera body, but had unscrew and hand hold to take portrait length shots. This swivel head is perfect! Affordable, easy to use. With a monopod, I don't need a variety of adjustments. Portrait and Landscape is all I need when using it. This head is simple to use and tightens appropriately. I love it!! It has made my life so much easier. I use it a lot on the golf course during tournaments, where I am constantly on the go. And you can't beat the price!

I haven't been using this product long enough to give a serious evaluation; the 4-star rating is based on my experience with other Manfrotto products. I've put the additional Rapid Connection Plates on my back-up camera and a large telephoto lens allowing me to quickly attach things to tripod or monopod as desired... we'll see.

I use big lenses on a monopod and since my world is not flat, I often have to point the camera (DSLR or video) up or down.It took a few minutes of wrenching this thing back and forth to smooth it out, but all's well now.On a side note, I think the extra QR plates are knockoffs, not Manfrottos. They differ from the one that comes on the 234, and actually have quite a chemically smell.I mounted this on a  SIRUI P-326 6 Section Carbon Fiber Monopod  and the system not only rocks, but is rock solid.The head is a bit weighty, but with thou$ands of dollars of camera and lens perched on it, the few ounces beyond lightweight are worth it.If you think you might need this, then you do.

In fact, NO mention of its arrival by amazon or USPS!! Using it on Manfrotto tripod for sky/night stars pixs since present head doesn't allow straight UP shooting. Handles well and very durable material. Already used it now and like its feel, simplicity and weight. Will update when have used it again (and again!)

These will enable me to switch cameras on the tripod, in seconds. Instead of removing the camera from the tripod, unscrewing the base plate, and placing it onto the second DSLR, I can put the camera (including base plate) into position on the tripod in seconds. Hopefully it will save me from missing any shots that the alternative option would most likely precipitate (knowing my luck.)

Good quality product and excellent value for money.

Great monopod head but I never received the two extra quick release plates and amazon customer service is rubbish !
