Excellent Guide to Mechanical Proficiency
While many books claiming to improve pitching mechanics recycle commonly known approaches to mechanics and velocity building techniques, Tom House, in this book, provides the technical approaches that not only guides the pitcher and coach towards incorporating certain tweaks to their deliveries, but provides some statistical and specific, real-life examples as to why those facets of mechanical deliveries should be adopted.Of the 4 Tom House books I have read, this book is the best for gleaning drills and mechanical updates for pitchers. While some of the drills are fairly common now, some are not. In addition, the objective of the mechanical and physical improvements are explained so a coach or a sophisticated pitcher, himself, could conjure their own drills and exercises to reinforce the sought skill. My main critique, as I have with all of Tom's books, is that there are not enough pictures and diagrams to provide a supplement to the text, so as some of the explanations could become more clear. Otherwise, this book is well worth the investment and really ties many of Tom's other books together.

Absolutely essential reading
This is absolutely essential reading. This book represents a new generation of thinking about sporting biomechanics that is scientifically based. Although some of the old pearls of wisdom based on intuition have been confirmed to some degree, too many past teachings handed down by word of mouth seem like old wives' tales. In fact things such the glove arm driving down are worse than old wives' tales because they can lead to excessive stress on the pitching arm, and so will lead to injury. From now on the critical pitcher will demand that any hypothesis about pitching mechanics be scientifically proven to be safe and sound rather than uncritically swollowing any old snake oil that could lead to a devastating career ending injury. It should be bourne in mind that the language used is also scientifically exacting such that many younger readers may encounter difficulty. A glossary of terms such as "supination" and "pronation" needs to be provided in a future edition. This is really serious reading for the serious player and coach to be read again and again.

Good instruction
I've been coaching my son in his pitching for the last four years now, and this is definitely the best book on technique and skill development I've ever encountered. It really breaks down the sequence of motion, gives pertinent and effective drills to use and deals with both the physical and mental aspects of pitching. Tom House really knows his stuff!

Very poor illustrations - stick figures
Disappointing book. Very poor illustrations - stick figures, not actual pictures. The author uses technical language that makes it somewhat difficult to understand his point. I expected more from a reknown coach like House.

Great resource for my husband and son
Great resource for my husband and son. My son is a 12 year old pitcher and the book is full of knowledge that my husband is able to have my son apply.
