Why can't this device be used on a fiberglass tub?

I suspect it is not recommended for fiberglass tub because fiberglass tub walls tend to be not as solid as steel tub walls, thus the clamp might not be able to grab tight enough to the tub, which will increase chances of the tub rail slipping when someone puts much weight on it.  There is a chance of damaging/cracking the fiberglass tub wall as well.  If you use this with a fiberglass tub, keep in mind you are using it in a way that it is not designed for and the manufacture has warned against using it that way.

will this fit on a corner large bathtub? needing to get some for my parents! just want to make sure they fit??

Question 3

Does anyone know what I can use to cover the edges on the bottom outside metal part. My mother is worried that she will cut her leg on the corners.

Another idea is to use padded corner guards (also used for shelves or tables)…they are great and sold on Amazon,  I have some on my fireplace mantle corners and they’ve saved me from a few bruises. :)

Question 4

I'm 175 lbs. because of old athletic knees, can i pull myself up from the tub with this? i hope! i know my wall grab bar is for balance only.

I weigh more than that and it works for me to pull myself up after I had some major surgery.  The only thing you have to watch out for- is you need to grab low down on the bar next to the tub, the higher you go on the grab bar the less pull you can do unless you figure out a way to keep it tight while under a lot of pressure.  My bar will slip if I grab at the top of it with my full weight at an angle, I have not figure out how to get it tight enough to hold solid to the tub without damage to the tub.  The bar will hold you if it doesn't slip.  I hope this info helps.
