Do you think it would be good as a school bag, so hold lunch box etc?

No I bought it for a festival. It was ok for that but I wouldn’t use it for a school bag as I’m not sure what it would be like if a flask leaked. I think it would take a while to dry.

will this bag have enough room for a basic adult change of clothes for an overnight stay please?

I've used mine for an overnight stay and been able to take change of clothes & the usual bits you need. All the pockets help with toiletries make - up etc. Great all round back pack that's real soft leather so really comfortable to use. Hope this helps.

Will it take anything larger than a4?

I carry an A4 folder in my bag and I am still able to close it comfortably. You could put something a bit bigger in it and use the ‘flap over’ but possibly not use the catch. I hope that helps.
