Very accurate albeit a little on the large size for a motorhome or smaller oven

disappointing. purchased a year and used in oven seven times at 150-220 C red indicator pin lodged in place by white coating on dial..

Refund was very simple however.

This was listed as a top contender for the money on a consumer review site & am happy with it so far. The face is much bigger than the cheaper ones and it shows how off oven is which has had the same pattern for years. When baking breads, cakes, cookies…it’s important to at least be near the required temp. I’m seeing an improvement on the quality of my bakes now that I have a more reliable temp gauge. Try to refrain from the cheaper ones if you do a lot of baking especially high temp. bakes. They’ll oxidize & burn out on you & loose accuracy very fast. We’ve bought few over the last 5 years.

Found out that my oven temperature is out, I've always suspected it was. Always liked the quality of the OXO stuff. Thought briefly of looking for an over thermometer of this type at the dollar store but thought better of it as I wouldn't have known if the temperature it was reporting was accurate. Would definitely buy it again.

Bought this so I could more accurately gauge the oven temperature, as trying to divine this via oven knob & temp lines found on most ovens, is not ideal. Less of an issue if you have an oven with digital temp settings (my pipedream !). It's surprising just how 'off' most ovens are if you rely on the knob & temp line approach; I've found in most cases about 20 degree's off, which can really affect a cake/dessert bake. So I've found this gauge very helpful ... my bakes agree !
