Mega Bloks Construx GGK26 Office, Detective Pikachu Movie LinePokemon Detective Pikachu - This is quite a large set of building pieces, 183 pieces in total. All of the parts are supplied in four separate bags, each bag contains all the pieces for each part of the set. It's advisable to not mix the whole lot together in a box as it makes assembly that much more difficult.It has been many years since I even looked at Lego, but as I remember it, this looks very similar. This also looks to be of a similar size to that of Lego. The blocks and Pikachu character look to be well made out of tough plastic, the colours are good.This is not a huge set once assembled, in fact it's quite small. But it is fun to build, also it's a bit of a challenge too. Within the box is an A4 sized full colour assembly booklet, this shows full colour diagrams with a step by step assembly guide which has 23 pages. Also within the box is an addendum sheet showing some corrections to the assembly guide.This really is a great building block set, having 183 pieces means it is a challenge to build. Especially if you are like me and prefer not to follow the assembly instructions. Once complete it looks great. This is an good set - good Pikachu character, and lots of really nice detail - coffee cup, map, books, and really like the office chair. It's very good - however on the minus side - the block are a fair bit from lego quality - some parts, like the single stud discs are brutal to push in, I struggled when my 8 year (who has no problems with standard Lego couldn't push them in).Also, in terms of value for money - you'd be hoping Megablocks would be undercutting Lego for similar sets, as that's their best hope of competing if they can't match quality - but this felt broadly in line with Lego pricing.I'd recommend it due to the Pikachu them - but would need to have similar uniqueness if I was going to buy Megablocks Lego compatible stuff again.

I was really looking forward to having an alternative to Lego as their sets can be expensive sometimes, especially when they are jointly branded with the likes of Disney, Jurassic Park, etc.This set is good but not great. The quality of the plastic is good enough but the pieces don’t seem to fit in as well as Lego, so you will find that you have to push that bit harder. It also doesn’t have any extra pieces, which I always find reassuring with Lego sets. It does have clear instructions and the pieces are split in 4 separate bags to help with construction.It is a cute set with Pikachu as the main character and this might sway it for you but I’m afraid that I won’t be moving to Megablocks any time soon.

We are more for the brand of Lego in this house as myself and kids have grown up with this brand.I have never really thought about getting mega blocks before but after having a chance of trying this set my head has been turned.Bad bits out in the open firstly on the description it’s got not suitable for under 36 months but when it came the box did say from 6 plus which I would say is the right age limit due to the small bits etc.Pokemon was about when I was a child and it seems to be coming back into fashion but my kids are not to impress with the little yellow Pikachu so I did pass this to my nephew and we build it together and really quickly.Very good clear instructions and all pieces was there and no added pieces as I always get confused when the Lego brand gives you extra pieces (what is that all about?)Pokemon detective Pikachu comes with many functions Pikachu itself has moveable arms legs head tail and ears and the set contains spin chair open books draws etc.The price is a bit expensive compared to Lego sets.I think I would look out for mega blocks as everything is the same as Lego it made just as good, bold colours and a wide range of different kinds.

We are usually a Lego brand household however my Son is Pokemon mad and with the release of the new Pokemon film recently he's even more Pokemon mad than usual.Once built the set is nice and has a lot of play value and my Son adores it.One thing we did find slightly frustrating were that all the pieces (183 of them) are just in non numbered bags with no order to them and so you spend a lot of time looking for parts unless you separate them out into containers at the beginning which we ended up doing half way through.A nice set and a way for Pokemon fans to have a similar building experience to Lego but I'll be honest if Lego did their own Pokemon sets then I would be purchasing from them on the basis that the bricks are a higher quality and the building experience is easier with their numbered bags system.
