I almost hesitate to call this a beginner's guide due to the wide variety of topics covered. Maybe comprehensive guide might be more appropriate. An easy, fun, yet thorough read.

As a beginner, I like the details it gives about the basics. It's fun to pick up and re-read the details as I'm trying to perfect my paddling.

I love this book. I wanted more input from the book on flatwater kayaks. It is a great start and will not take it for granted about the information that was imparted.

Plenty of useful information. Very well explained, and with sufficient detail that you can really learn the strokes covered, not just get some vague ideas. Enough personality in the writing to help you stay engaged. Ken Whiting not only is an expert on the subject, he is a good teacher.

The information in the book is great, but I was expecting a new book not a used book! The last pages of the book have water damage. I can still use the book, so I won’t be returning it to Amazon.

As a new kayaker I appreciate the author's simplification of necessary skill development to enjoy the sport safely on a recreational basis. Succinct writing with excellent illustrations make this book a new have for kayaking newbies.
