i have the peavey PVI 8500 just wondering if any one has had one or knows someone who has had the output board go bad im talking just at 5 months old?

Hello. Although it is not common for components to fail this soon after purchase, it does happen from time to time. This can be caused by a number of factors, such as defective components, misuse by the consumer (such as pairing the unit with speakers that have different power and impedance requirements, or clipping/passing a dirty audio signal), etc. If you have purchased the unit from an authorized dealer and you are within your warranty period, most repairs are covered by the manufacturer at their discretion. My current mixer has a echo effects, do the digital effects work for improving vocals for singing?

I’ve never used echo however some songs my require it. I usually use the large Hall effects or similar reverberations

can this powered mixer just use one passive speaker or do you always need 2 ?

Actually you can use one or two or none. The output not having a speaker should be turned to very low volume. You can use the mixer part as a slave mixer going to another mixer,
