Could this be used for my kids to do homework on, or would i be too tall?

They are about 25 inches tall. I'm not sure how old or big your kids are but you could try different size chairs to adjust.

How did this get so many good reviews? I received mine and they are wobbly, legs are not even on the ground, and wood is splintering. These are trash.

That was not our experience at all, very sturdy and very nice wood. Sorry for your troubles.
