How long is the main storyline?

It's split into several chapters. Each chapter takes about 60 minutes (or more) to play. I think our campaign was about 14 chapters, and often it took us two hours to finish a chapter.

Do you need the app for the game?

Yes, the app basically runs the game for the players. If you've ever played a table-top roleplaying game - the app acts as the game master.

Are there any expansions for this game?

Yes. As of July 2020 an expansion called Shadowed Paths was released. This includes 5 new heroes, more map tiles and game features, and campaign added to the app. All heroes can now be mixed and matched for the original and expansion campaigns.
