Must read - I could not put the book down!
I felt compelled to read this book after all the hype and coffee talk. I went into it worrying it would be too graphic in BDSM. Yes, there are many, many, many detailed sex scenes - but it was more sex and emotions, not the level of BDSM I had feared - so don't let that scare you off. It was not at all what I expected - and now I see what all the hype is about. I was glued to the books in this series and literally could not put them down. I read all 3 in less than 3 days - finding myself up until 4 am because I could not wait to see what happened next. Yes, there are graphic sex scenes - many of them - but at its heart, this was a love story. I was entranced by the love story, laughed, and even found myself crying during parts of the books. I cannot think of any other book or movie which described the depth of love that the characters had (especially Christian's love for Ana) so well. The books/story was addictive - I had to see what happened next - my heart wrenched at different points for both characters. As the other reviews have mentioned, the author could have been a little more creative in describing characters actions/feelings - too many references to "shades of," Christian tilting his head, and the characters turning up their lips (among other things). That being said - although it was mildly annoying, I was so enthralled in the story I could have cared less at the time. I LOVED the last section of book 3, which was told through Christian's point of view (of the begining of the first book). After reading all 3 books, I would have happily continued with 3 more all from Christian's point of view. I was longing for more. I sincerely hope the author was using that as a teaser, and that she will be publishing 3 more books written from Christian's perspective. Trust me - they WILL SELL! I've seen comments about actors/actresses to play characters in the movie. My suggestions: Christian - Channing Tatum (after all, Christian needs to look drop dead gorgeous shirtless), Ana - Scarlett Johannsen (she has the lips for it), and Mrs . R - Sharon Stone - I've heard suggestions of Angelina Jolie, but she is way too young. Mrs. R is supposed to be Grace's friend/contemorary - so she should be in her 50's (not late 30's). I am worried that the books will be shortchanged in a movie. Sex, and graphic details of sex acts are a major part of the story - I am not sure how they could be true to the book and still get an R rating. I am off to go reread all 3 books again... Yes, they are that good.

Perfect ending to this PHENOMENAL, UNFORGETTABLE series!!
I finished Freed to day, wrapping up my self-inflicted three day Fifty series read-a-thon. I've written rave reviews for the Grey and Darker already, and this will be no different. E.L. James is quite simply a gifted story teller, and I could not get enough of her raw, erotic, emotional, creative, and original writing. How do you write a story that takes truly interesting and multi-dimensional characters, completely immerses them in sex and lust, and somehow still make the plot, the emotions, and the humor all seem real and compelling? I still don't know HOW she pulled it off, but exhibit A would be this series. Every moment, from Ana's first stumble into Christian's office in Grey to the blissfully happy ending we've all been waiting for in Freed, had me captivated because this story was just so amazingly well written. It was enlightening, exciting, beautiful, sexy as hell, heart-wrenching, and just unforgettable. Freed starts off with Ana and Christian on their honeymoon, and I loved seeing them so happy together. After all they'd been through in the first two books, it was hard-earned! Ana grew so much in Darker, and in Freed we see her truly become her own woman; Mrs. Grey, the confident, sexy wife that's finally comfortable in her own skin. And Christian really is trying to put her first, despite his constant need to be in control. He opens up even more and shares more of himself with Ana, and I was swept away by their love for each other. Their happiness is threatened again by both Christian's past and present, and they discover that Jack Hyde, Ana's former boss who tried to blackmail her for sex, has a bigger role than they ever understood. Christian's temper and Ana's determination to have some freedom in her life pit them against each other when they need each other most, and a drastic turn of events leads to a heartbreaking moment that changes everything for them. In the last 25% of the book (I had the kindle version) everything comes to a head, and it was too enthralling to put down! Now that I've finished the series, I'm really sad to say goodbye to these characters. Watching Christian and Ana grow in these books made them have such a big place in my heart, and it's sad to know that it's over. I'm so grateful to E.L. James for giving us this absolutely unforgettable story, and it is with tears in my eyes that I bid one of the best-written series out there a bittersweet and heartfelt farewell!

50 Shade Freed is perfect way to go
There are not even words that can come to mind on how wonderful this book was. I don't know what people think about saying this book is not good It is beyond good beyond awesome. They just don't know good reading. E L James has out done herself with writing the finale chapter of this Trilogy and I am actually sad to see it come to an end. The book starts with Christian and one of his nightmares just like the second book. However, Ana is there this time and they are now Married. Christian is a wonderful husband even if he is still controlling. It is one reason I love him so much as a character. He is wearing cut off jeans on the beach while on his honeymoon and boy does E L describe him well. In this book almost two has past since the end of book two and they waited a month to get married plus the time they been on their honeymoon. He has shown her so many places including London. I loved the part with the on the boat when she took off on the Jet Ski. I though Christian was going to have a heart attack. Ana was sneaky not telling him she was going to take it. Not everything is hearts and flowers as Ana says. They do have fights still, but the most biggest thing in this book is dealing with the 'unsub' as Sawyer calls him. Ana has a need for speed while they are out running a person in a Dodge chasing after them at hundred MPH. Boy the after scene of that chase was just as hot. The first 'unsub' is given away rather early in the book however, the second one is not. I was rather shocked on who the second was, but I love being surprised. There was one point in the book I wanted to actually scream at both of them. However, it was Christian more because of something. He comes around though and I was moved on what it took for him to realize (finally) that Ana is never going to leave him. She'd risk her own life to save not only him, but his sister. The emails are here again which I enjoyed. I wished E L had written out more of one scene based on one of the emails. However, she did a great job as always. I wish there were more book in this Trilogy and showed them having some fun after their surprise. Christian's first Xmas in the Grey's house was wonderful. I enjoyed that little part into his past. I loved his side of the first and second meetings with Ana in his office then in Clayton's. I was glad that he finally told Ana about how him and 'Mrs. Robinson' started out. It helped them both when he opened up to her. I know this is one Trilogy I will be rereading for years to come.

I wish this wasn't the last book!!!
Rarely do I read books, and more rarely do I ever find a book to read that interests me and keeps me interested throughout. Well... this trilogy had me hooked from the first book of the trilogy! Obviously, you'd have to start with book 1 to understand the storyline thus far in the trilogy. But, I actually think the third book was almost the best of all 3. The plot is great- a total page turner you won't want to put down. And if you've read either of the other two books in this series, you'd know that it is an 'erotic' novel. There are some graphic sexual scenes... but boy does that make it all the better! Ana is still a bit repetitive with her thoughts, as she was in the first two books, but it seemed to be a bit less repetitive in this one. Her whole 'inner goddess' thing is still an issue, which did get a little annoying throughout all 3 books, but it doesn't kill the read if you get past it and move on to the better parts. Personally, I love how erotic and 'naughty' all 3 of these books are. There is plenty that can be left to the imagination, but the author does a very good job at really painting a picture in your head as you read. I really didn't want to put the book down and was really bummed when I read through all 3 of them in less than a month- they are THAT good!! I am REALLY hoping E L James will come out with a new series, similar in writing to Fifty Shades, with just a different plot. If you like romance, drama, thrills, some erotica, a little bit of BDSM & a good story line- this trilogy IS for you! I think this book, the third, was the best of the books in the trilogy. So if you have already read book 1 and aren't sure if you want to continue on- get book 2 and give it a chance... and if you've already read book 2 and are still unsure if you want to continue on... READ THIS LAST ONE! Book 3 made the trilogy, in my opinion. It put all the pieces into place and finished off with a very unpredictable but great ending. I really am hoping there will be more books to follow this!!!

A predictable conclusion to the trilogy with a few mega surprises!
I actually rate this last book in the trilogy 3.5 stars, as opposed to the 4 stars I gave to the 1st two books. "Fifty Shades Freed" is the third installment in the "Fifty Shades Trilogy" written by British author E. L. James. The novel traces the relationship between Anastasia Steele, a bright, beautiful, recent college graduate who is now working in the publishing business, and a very troubled young business magnate, Christian Grey. "Fifty Shades" is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving BDSM, bondage/discipline, and sadism/masochism. Just a note here. I am not into BDSM and initially cringed at the idea of reading this series. However, several friends, avid readers all, (mostly female), whose taste I trust, gave "50 Shades of Grey" excellent reviews. So, I thought I would try book #1. After completing the novel I immediately read Book 2 and now I have completed book 3. I have to say I agree with my friends and give this 4 stars, as I did with the first 2 novels. I am intrigued by Ms. James portrayal of the "lifestyle," something I had never really read about before. I also enjoyed the character building and development of the storyline. I fell in love with both Anastasia, (Ana), and Christian in Book #1, as well as with many of the characters in the supporting cast. And once I began to read I found that I couldn't put the books down. Just a note here...I don't think the BDSM element would have kept my interest through 3 novels if it weren't for Christian and Ana. I am not going to write about the 1st two books because I assume the reader has already read them. If not, please do. Book 3, "Fifty Shades Freed" is not the place to start. Although I liked this last novel of the trilogy, it is my least favorite. Too predictable. Shaky writing style....more so than with the other novels. After accepting entrepreneur Christian Grey's marriage proposal in "Fifty Shades Darker," the couple have a lavish and romantic honeymoon in Europe. When they return to the US and "life as normal," Anastasia Steele must adjust not only to married life but to her new husband's wealthy lifestyle and controlling nature. One would think that after the 2 previous novels she would be accustomed by now. As with all newly married couples, they have problems adjusting, but this couple's adjustment is a bit more complicated and difficult then most. To add more tension to the mix, it appears that Ana's ex-boss, whom Christian fired, bears the couple much ill will...and he is a psycho! Also, the older woman, "Mrs. Robinson," who introduced Christian into the life of BDSM inserts herself, quite forcefully into the storyline. And there is a mega surprise of all surprises in "Freed!" No spoilers here. I found there to be much more "kinky sex" in this book than the others....which is a bit too much. Ms. James' writing style, as I mentioned above, while nothing to write home about goes somewhat downhill in this last novel. I didn't criticize her writing style in my reviews of the first 2 books because I was "in it" for the story and characters. I just want to mention it here. It feels like the author rushed to finish the series. I did enjoy reading this finale because I really wanted to see where & how Christian and Ana wind up. And I found out. I recommend this series, not this one particular book, to open-minded people who are interested in a good tale and an alternate lifestyle. This is not for the faint of heart! JANA

Well Done
I came away from this series of books with a great deal of respect for Ms. James' ability to write a book which includes the sexual areas of sadism/masochism and dominance/submission in such a way as to not offend or horrify the many readers who are not familiar with those subject areas. I suspect that some readers were offended or horrified and did not finish the book, but judging from the success of the trilogy, there were not many. I myself knew little about these areas of sexuality, but found that I could accept and value Mr. Christian Grey because of the way she presented him. He is a man who would be attractive to many women, but he had flaws which resulted in his need for those kinds of sexuality and lifestyle. Outside of that, he was tall, handsome, wealthy, brilliant, and very much attracted to Ms. Anastasia Steele. Women could identify with her in terms of her innocence about the lifestyle he wanted her to participate in. Her strongly negative reaction to the first time he caused her pain, was probably how many of us would feel about it happening to us, no matter who the perpetrator was. She left him, and rightly so, which caused him to realize how much he cared for her, and needed her in his life. The crux of the matter came here, in that he (with the help of his therapist) realized that he wanted Anastasia, and would work on changing many aspects of his lifestyle that she (and ultimately, he) found unacceptable. So, from that, many of us have given ourselves permission to read and love the rest of the story. Eye rolling and lip biting aside, this may not be Pulitzer prize winning literature, but it is a well written story with some wonderful descriptions of their sexual encounters. There is also humor in their e-mails to each other, and the antics of what she called her inner goddess, all of which I enjoyed. The criticism of some reviewers were things I'd noticed, but they didn't bother me to the extent I would toss the book. In fact, I highly recommend it.

So-so... but compelling
After a week and a half of steady reading in between living my life, I finally finished the Fifty Shades trilogy and ran to Amazon to see what the folks are saying. I won't say that I don't understand the hype - I do. This was a very interesting story about two people mutually dependent on each other in ways that neither of them totally understood. I just wish there was a bit more depth here. To start, I really was hooked on book 1. I'm one of those "vanilla" type lovers who admittedly has a fascination with the "darker" side of things. I was not only curious but enthralled with good girl Ana (who I related to in book 1) meeting the bad boy Christian and her decision over his proposition. As I read, I wondered what I would do in the same situation. And that's the mark of a good story - if I can put myself in the pages and live vicariously through the characters, I'm a very happy reader. In fact, I forgave much of the writing style because of this. Hey, not everyone is Hemingway. But a good story is a good story and for me book 1 delivered. Book 2 is where things started sliding downward for me. Things moved WAY too fast in real time, even for a fantasy. I started to dislike Ana because I just can't respect women who completely change their ways and life for a man. For instance, she was never a fashionista but just because he gave her those clothes, all of a sudden she's Anna Wintour. And she was practically obsessed with his moods, his wants, etc. What about you, Ana? Also, for a 21 year old, she was unbearably naive. I understand being conservative when it comes to sex but did she live in the world at all? And how can any girl be this naive with a friend like Kate? Made no sense to me. More so, the dynamic between Christian and Ana was uncomfortable for me. I like Christian as a character and I felt for him and his pain, but jeez. They were both unbearable to each other - Ana with her constant questioning and insecurities and Christian with his overbearing insanity. Regardless, I was still interested in this very symbiotic relationship and I wanted to see where the story was headed. So I read on to book 3. Book 3 felt like a rehash of the first two. I found myself skipping through a lot of it because it felt like there was soooo much filler there. Nothing really happens of significance in book 3, especially since we discovered so much about Christian in book 2, and their relationship really does not grow all that much. That said, it's worth it to read book 3 just to read (SPOILER!) the birth of their son. Very touching, at least to me. But that was it. It was too convenient an ending for me, even for a fantasy. And I think Ana annoyed me even more in this book because she was practically Mother Teresa. It was weird how much everyone loved her, she did no wrong. All the men wanted her, all the women loved her and respected her. Especially at work, where she conveniently becomes head editor after hubby buys the company. Yeah, no one at work has a problem with that? And she's only 22? Riiiiight... In short, there's moments of real greatness here and I was hoping that I would continue living vicariously in the pages through book 2 and book 3 but the story started to feel different and I just didn't like were things went. That said, I found myself enjoying parts of it so I do recommend it for a light read. Three stars.

Very entertaining
After hearing all the discussion on the books, I finally decided that I needed to read the books for myself. I read several of the reviews before purchasing the final two books. I had originally bought the first book not realizing that there were two more books. After careful consideration and having loved the first book, I bought the final two in the series. The following are just some of my thoughts. First, the books were meant to be entertaining. If you want to read serious, then read "War and Peace." I have to admit that when I first started to read the books my face, I am certain, turned bright red. The language is quite salacious, but after awhile you finally begin to get involved with the characters and the sexual events get less and less shocking. However, there were times when you felt you needed to splash your face with cold water! In the beginning, you might think its just the shock factor that keeps you reading but after awhile you want to know how the characters will survive the traumas that they face. How can this story possibly have a happy ending? Yes, it is filled with mind blowing sex acts but at the same time it is a story of redemption and the hope of saving a life marred by abuse. I found it to be my guilty pleasure. I think, on some level, many women would like to find a "Christian Grey." Oh, don't get me wrong. The extreme part of the character no one in their right mind would choose to experience. However, I think a gorgeous billionaire, who would want to place the world at your feet and worship everything about you, might just turn your head. In final, as an educated woman who typically reads the "War and Peace" type books, I found these books to be highly entertaining. You might want to pass on these books if you find sexual topics embarrassing, but if you want to add just a little spice to your life....by all means, give them a try.

Fifty Shades Freed
I had read the first book (a borrowed one) quite fast as my sister wanted it back, but after reading it, I immediately went online to pick up the three of them. I also wanted to take my time reading them, as I don't often get free time to do so. The second book was so good, I avoided reading the third so I could take it on vacation with me. It is REALLY good. Imagine my surprise when I got to Costa Rica and the books were on the store shelves, in English. There were three girls around the pool reading it also. Some of the things that Christian and Anastasia do are a little out there for me, but the feeling you get reading about their sexual habits is not anything I expected. I am a little older now, but it took me back a few years to some pretty fun times, with partners I cared about enough to experiment with. And the love they have for each other is something most of us can only dream of. I have heard that this series is being looked at for film....might I suggest the guy that plays the Mentalist (he was also in The Devil Wears Prada), SIMON BAKER. He has that sexy, yet boyish look to him, with a few sly, and shy smiles. He has the Red-ish/Blonde unkempt look to his hair. He looks incredible in jean and a shirt, as well as a suit. BUT,he is also VERY GOOD LOOKING WHEN HIS CLOTHES ARE REMOVED!!!, not to mention and incredible actor, someone you don't want to take your eyes off of. I can't wait to finish the books now that I am home, and I am sure that after Xmas, I just may read them again...no leaning these ones out, they can get their own...!!! ;) .....K
