Still one of my favorite CoDs
I thought I would write a short review 7ish years after this game came out. I haven't played this game in 5 years due to my previous copy (wiiU) suddenly developing disc read errors. First, let me talk about the campaign. Although, I didn't remember much about this campaign, I have to say Im really enjoying it. Once you get past the opening gunfight in 0 gravity nonsense, it's a good story with some good stealth aspects to the game play. Its a well done and not overplayed feature. Then the doggo. This I thought was really cool 7 years ago, one of the few things I remembered about the campaign. Today it seems unnecessary, but not unwelcome. Once again, not overplayed. Second, the Extinction mode. I played a lot of this back in the day It's still exceptional, and the main reason I purchased a new copy of the game. The additional content for this included in the season pass is worth paying extra. Third, the multiplayer. This honestly is the reason for the review. I looked around all over the internet to find out if there was still a player base. There is, albeit a small base. It seems to hold steady at 500 to 700 players at peak times. I saw 800 on a Saturday night at 9pm eastern with most players showing off 7 years worth of finely honed sniper skills in TDM. Its unfortunate that kill confirmed and domination modes don't get much love. I really liked the point based perk system and simple weapon attachment mods. The maps seem large and remember them being so. Some CoD fans complain about Ghosts and the large maps, then they go play Warzone... Haha! Also, the maps seem to be more dynamic than in other iterations of CoD, also a welcome feature. There is also a "squad" game mode in which you and a squad of your own unlocked player skins and their loadouts face off against another team of the same. Its fun, especially if lobby wait times get you down. Lastly, visually this game still holds its own. It looks great on my ps4pro. Some in game animations look choppy, but they have little to no impact on enjoyment. And cut scenes look still look very good even when compared to the newest games. Is it still worth getting the hardened edition? It depends. The wiiU version I had offered ZERO dlc so the included season pass is an awesome inclusion. In that regard, the multiplayer maps and additional Extinction episodes, I think its worth the money. Some of the bonus items are no longer available to download. Activision, should do a better job on making the offerings available for longer. All in all, given the season pass, steel case, the wristband (that will never be worn or even displayed) and the fact that the multiplayer community isn't quite dead AND its ps5 compatible, I'd say this is a worthwhile purchase.

WAY BETTER Than Advanced Warefare
First off, this game is WAY BETTER than COD Advanced Warfare. If you like traditional boots to the ground combat with traditional weapons, then this game is for you. COD has since lost their way by turning the game essentially into Halo. COD needs to return to the basics of modern warfare and this game is one of the last games that does that. If you like jumping around with jet packs fighting inside a map the size of a shoe box, then I suggest you stick with Advanced Warfare. However; if you like traditional boots to the ground hard nosed combat, you'll love this game! Now, let's get into the pros and cons of this particular game pack: PROS: -The graphics are amazing -Gameplay is smooth and fluid (when not laggy) -The map packs that come bundled with this game are awesome and well worth it! I love the mixture of large maps and medium to small maps. This allows for all game modes and skills ranging from the shoe box fighter to the skillful sniper. -The soldier design feature is AWESOME. Love how you can unlock perks, weapons, soldier features by earning points through skill rather than forcing you to open your wallet. -Love the slide and aim around corner features -The tin collectable case and collectable 550 cord bracelet are nice! CONS: -As with most COD games, this game tends to get quite laggy at times. I guess that can be blamed on COD's game servers? -The game uses the "socialistic game host approach." So in other words, if you have a nice high speed internet connection that you pay for, the game will likely make you the game host in order to balance between other players with cheaper, crappier, slower game connections. This essentially slows and lags your game down. So you get to suffer because you pay for the higher speed internet. Ahhh, socialism at its finest... -Need more players online! Unfortunately since this game is older, there are a limited number of players that have these map packs. So please buy this game so we can all play these map packs together! OVERALL: A great game and a great value for this Hardened Edition! I highly recommend. UPDATE: I forgot to mention that I also played the entire campaign as well and was very entertained with every mission. The graphics on this game are amazing and the missions rock!

Well Worth It
This is a fantastic game. It has been unjustly accused of not being "different" enough from it's predecessors from the same franchise. I myself, don't want it to be "that" different from it's predecessors, otherwise it wouldn't be "Call of Duty". This game introduces subtle additions to the gameplay mechanics and cosmetics. To name a few, the "contextual lean", "knee-slide", and the ability to customize your soldier (including gender). Looking at them individually, they're not revolutionary. However, you're not supposed to view them individually. You're supposed to look at the value they add collectively, which makes them much more substantial. Something else that is entirely new to the series is the "Guard Dog". That is a great addition. It's really nice to have an intuitive dog watching your back when you're stationary, or aggressively attack while you run-and-gun. I love the war-torn settings, and the mystique of the "Ghosts". There is a great deal of variety in the maps (even more so with this "Hardened Edition", which includes the Season Pass for all 4 DLC content packs). For the player who wants a blend of "realism" with more "fast-paced" action, you simply can't beat this edition, especially given the price, which is a steal for anything under $50.00 (the Season Pass by itself is worth $50.00 online).

Good Game, Good Season Pass, Team Leader Pack no longer Valid. Also I love the Box.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is a really fun game, personally my favorite. It's right before the whole "let's make everything super futuristic and weird" phase so things are retty interesting. tbh I bought this just for the Aliens: Extinction mode though. 10x better than the same ol' same ol' zombies. On a different note, the single player normal campaign isn't anything amazing to write home about, but it's pretty solid. Doggo is so cute :3 Anyways, this game is great. Definitely worth the $$ I paid for it. The Season Pass Code DOES Work, but be aware the Team Leader Pack DOES NOT, and cannot be redeemed. Activision has expired all bonus DLC for CoD:Ghosts. So no more special Patch, Player Card, Background, or Soundtrack from the website. BTW; The Free Fall Map can be downloaded for free from the Playstation store if you search up the CoD: Ghosts game page. I give this product 4/5 stars because in the product description it doesn't say anything about the team leader pack expiration. Even still it's good, especially for the price, so 4/5. If the price changes on this item, I would not recommend spending any more than like $60 on this. Tbh with how old the game is you'll probably only find die hard fans and veterans on the multiplayer servers, which means if you're not great at CoD you'll probably have a bad time. So don't expect to get all your money's worth out of this game if it gets expensive. Buy it while it's cheaper than a full-price $60 game. -TL;DR- Good Game Aliens: Extinction is Better than Zombies You get the Season Pass (All Maps and Aliens Stuff) You DON'T get the Team Leader Pack (Character Customization Items) Also the box this game comes in is awesome

Not the COD I Wished for
This review will be of the multiplayer mode, as I don't believe more than 1% of people buy the game for the campaign. There is nothing wrong with the way the game plays. Your character moves fluently, the knee slide works well and is surprisingly useful, and the game sounds beautiful. I am a bit of an audiophile, especially when it comes to gun and combat noise, and this game delivers. The next-gen version of the game is definitely superior, and it does look quite good. However there are several major flaws with the game. You die extremely fast. I do not prefer this, some might, this is just my opinion. There is no point in having the blood appear on your screen when you are injured, as you never escape death. I escape perhaps 1 out of every 100 "gunfights". This is another problem. There are no gunfights anymore. 60% of the time you die from a direction you can't see because the maps are so hectic and busy, and if you happen to see someone either your gun better already be up and firing or you are dead. The spawning is horrible. They have implemented these gigantic maps for some reason, and yet you die instantly upon spawn 10% of the time. It also takes FOREVER to level up. This can be a good thing, to add replay-ability, but it is not fun when you have to level up to earn squad points to unlock things, and it takes an hour to earn 1 point. The only fun I have been having in this game is sniping, and that can get old. I have basically put down this game for good as of this review. My advice: If you are on 360/PS3/PC stick with Black Ops 2. If you are on a next-gen console, buy a different game. Perhaps the map packs will change my mind, but as of now I am done with Infinity Ward COD games. *Please keep in mind this is COD, and every year part of the community loves it and part of the community hates it. This is merely my opinion, and you really need to play the game yourself for a few hours before you decide if it is worth the money.

Great price, not all the codes worked.
We paid $18 bucks so it's a great price. The game and season pass code worked fine. The metal case is okay, and the bracelet good quality. The digital bonus content code didn't work though. Contacted Activision and they escentially said too bad. Not a deal breaker for us given the price but always annoying not to get what you said you were. So all in all good deal but don't count on the extra content codes.

The last true call of duty on Next Gen
This is the one true Call of Duty game left on next gen. It's classic run and gun gameplay online. It doesn't have any of those weird/futuristic weapons that nobody likes. You you can't jump 40 feet in the air when a guy's shooting at you.... there is no near alien technology weaponry.... you can't make yourself invisible... you can't climb on the walls... none of that. Just pure shooting. If you can shoot better than your opponent... you win. It's that simply. That's what I LOVE about this game. This is strictly for true call of duty fans that have stuck with the franchise from day 1. I wish they would have stuck with this formula. The only drawback about this game is that due to its age, there are LESS people online to play with. Most people online are playing Team Deathmatch. But to make up for this, they also give you the ability to make a local game with enemy and friendly BOTS, so you can make your own experience and play just as you would online. Also, this hardened edition has all the BONUS DLC maps so you don't have to buy anything. You get everything after you enter the DLC code from the game case. I would definitely recommend this game.

Absolutely Embarrassing COD Release
Wow, I cannot believe I got duped into buying this game. I watched all the preview videos, bought into the hype that Activision & Infinity Ward spun around this game; only to find out that when you got it, it looks NOTHING like any of the videos they have shown. I have purchased the Hardened Edition for the PS4 (and I have a pre-launch PS4 to play it on), the regular version for the PS3 and the regular version for the PC; so I have quite a breadth of experience here playing the game already. Let's get down to it, the game is just bad. It really is more of a beta than a final release product and if you contact Infinity Ward or Activision customer support about it, the representatives there will tell you that very thing. I have heard from several different levels of support today [after spending nearly 6 hours on the phone with support] that we just have to 'bear with them, the product needs just a little tweaking and it will be perfect'. Seriously?! The game which you released needs tweaking?! The connection is completely unstable [dedicated servers? I do not think so] on the multiplayer facet that you get logged out after only a couple games, that or it locks up your system. HACKERS -- that is right on day one of the release of this game it was already hacked. Infinity Ward knew about this two months ago because there was a Chinese site that had posted the entire code for the game for people to start hacking, but they did nothing about it. And the in game reporting system? It is the biggest joke there is. All the multiplayer leaderboards show ridiculous statistics that are clearly hacking, but is anything being done about it? No. I have followed specifically 10 people that I reported for hacking on day 1 of release; nothing has been done to them or their account and they just continue to hack away. Oh and the hackers are on ALL platforms, PS4 included (I am assuming XBONE but I do not know anyone with a pre-launch XBONE). NETWORK USAGE - When playing online, normal games use about 10-20 KB/sec of data usage (this is what I average playing either MW3 or BO2 or even currently BF4) ... on average I am seeing ranges from 65-100 KB/sec of usage with this game. So 5x the normal usage with this game. What could that mean? Number one it seriously heats up your system, and number two if you have bandwidth caps with your provider, it will be 5x more likely for you to hit them and get overage charges. HARDWARE USAGE - (THIS RELATES TO THE PS3 VERSION ONLY, I DO NOT HAVE SENSORS ON MY PS4) - CPU Usage on the PS3 consistently spikes to 100% and stays there for extended times, longest time at 100% was for a full 35 minutes. Just imagine that amount of usage. After playing Ghosts for ~25+ minutes, the CPU core temperatures on the PS3 go to 90*C (194*F) on average, I have seen temp spikes in the excess of 115*C (239*F) RAM usage, when playing the game there is never less than 100% of the PS3 RAM being used. How this affects the game or system is that if god forbid someone sends you a message or game invite, you run the risk of disconnecting from the PSN servers because simply put the system cannot handle it. Also if you do not clean out your Inbox and Sent Box which are stored in the temporary RAM on your PS3, you also run the risk of the game locking up. The Blu-ray drive runs almost constantly. I have never had a game that ran the Blu-ray drive this much. Blu-ray drive temperatures are running between 65*C (149*F) and 85*C (185*F). This will cause premature failure of the drive, which could be a very brilliant product strategy if that is what Sony wants (product failure means you would probably go out and buy a new unit). -------------------------------------------- So what was my resolution after speaking with support today for 6 hours? They told me to contact Amazon and that because of the level of complaints that have been issued about this game, Amazon would give me a full refund of the game. That's right instead of making the game right or making good on the issues, they told me to go back to the retailer who sold it to get a refund for their faulty game. Amazing. Oh and my Hardened Edition only had the game and the steelbook inside of it, EVERYTHING ELSE was missing. Their response to that, "Well we are sorry about that, again contact Amazon for a full refund." MIND BLOWN.
