Bottarga
Excellent quality, very tasty. Worth any penny. I only wish, it was not packed in plastic or at least it had some extra natural layer between bottarga and packaging

Exotic menu item was disappointing
I read an enthusiastic recipe for Pasta con la Bottarga in the New York Times and was inspired to order this essential (and quite expensive) ingredient. I tried the recipe twice and found it disappointing. I have enough bottarga left for a third try, but I have done better with Pasta con Grocery Sauce. You're welcome to try it perhaps with better results.

Awful -- DO NOT BUY!!!
I've purchased numerous varieties of bottarga from Supreme Bottarga (formerly Bottarga Bros) both direct and via Amazon. Flavors have varied but it's never been "bad", i.e., spoiled product. I went out on a limb and purchased from two other sellers recently. One was ok, but this one -- from Alma Gourmet -- was sickening. I tasted one bite and threw the rest out. It probably would've made me sick had I continued. Even before opening I knew something was off. I've never seen a piece of what sems to be skin (?) attached to the egg sack (see pictures). Also, the vacuum seal looked less-than perfect (also see pictures). The smell was off but the taste - oh, the taste - it was like the fish eggs you buy from bait shops to put on hooks for fishing. Atrocious. Like I said, I've had good bottarga, and it is fishy but not "off". This was "off". Avoid this seller and this product AT ALL COSTS! It is inedible at best, sickening at worst.

Awesome !!!!!!!
I love this stuff!!! I used it yesterday grated on top of a pasta dish and added great flavor to it. I am using over risotto next time. I highly recommend it.

Who are they kidding?
Wrapped in a thin sheet of plastic that is impossible to remove without losing some of the botarga, which at $100/lb is a loss. Bu, once unwrapped I realized it wasn't worth the effort or the money. Flimsy flavors with a hint of sale and absolutely NO presence of the briny flavors of real botarga. A total ripoff!!!
