it's good on history but not enough direct detail it was just basic info

My daughter loves a good mystery and this book lived up to the hype. I was surprised at the size…I guess I expected it to be thicker, but it didn’t seem to bother her as she found it packed with interesting stories.

My kids loved this book. Great for reading and spending wholesome quality time with the kiddos and still having fun

Nine mysteries unlocked by modern science as well as can be done by length of time and distance. A gift for older child who enjoyed it.

This book is very informative. To be honest I think the title should change a bit because not all the facts were solved or if they were it just wasn’t clear to me. I still loved it. It had some stories I don’t recall hearing about.

This book came to my attention because it was recommended by the National Science Teachers Association. I bought it and read it to my 10 & 11 year old kids. They loved it. Nicely structured, each "chapter" is a stylishly laid-out mystery of the kind kids love (lost cities, missing ships, dead people). Each mystery has been subjected to recent investigation by real scientists, with a conclusion that answers some--but not all--of the questions. The tales are sensationalized just enough to make them interesting. I highly recommend this book for school libraries and science teachers, and of course parents of middle grade children.
