Synopsis:This is the tale of a meeting between Lazzaro, a young peasant so good that he is often mistaken for simple-minded, and Tancredi, a young nobleman cursed by his imagination.Life in their isolated pastoral village Inviolata is dominated by the terrible Marchesa Alfonsina de Luna, the queen of cigarettes. A loyal bond is sealed when Tancredi asks Lazzaro to help him orchestrate his own kidnapping.This strange and improbable alliance is a revelation for Lazzaro. A friendship so precious that it will travel in time and transport Lazzaro in search of Tancredi. His first time in the big city, Lazzaro is like a fragment of the past lost in the modern world.

Magical realism. Don't expect a linear narrative.
Wonderful performances and the movie has a dream like quality which I loved. Lazzaro is the Innocent in each of us, buried deep. Give it a go, your brain has to work differently to watch it as it's not a regular mainstream film.

It's Not Happy Gilmore
This is a sweet and atmospheric film with some good performances, interesting moments and a magic realism-meets-cinema verite style. Plus points are the naturalistic acting, locations and overall mood, also various nods to films of the past. Minus points are the slow pace at times.. and the ending. Yep. Oh dear. The less said about the ending the better. So I'll stop there. Talking about the ending, that is. Stopping... now.

21st Century Masterpiece
Loved this start to finish. The lead character is the sweetest, naive young thing, completely selfless and uniquely magical. The cinematography is subtle but beautiful. The ideas throughout are incredible magic realism, and the ending is sublime and heartbreaking all at once. Can't recommend this enough!

A modern fairytale in all its themes
I was so touched by this film. There is a gentle beauty in it that will leave you in wonderment. The ending was not what I expected but was what the film deserved.

This film is utterly charming and at points timeless with references to the masters of cinema Fellini and Tarkovsky.

Heard about this film and thought it might be worth a go - but found it rather cool and unengaging. It's well made and acted but I was too aware of just watching it and feeling utterly detached. The weirdness that develops as characters relocate is fine but as I wasn't engaged with them earlier, it just didn't seem to matter...

Whimsical film, the actors are naive and do a fantastic performance loved this unique masterpiece.

Italian film about a slow thinking young man who lives somewhere in the middle of Italy(contry side), and everyone likes him because they take advantage of him, made him do their work duties.Along comes the bosses( who son (a young man in his early twenties) who also start to take advantage of him, some where along the movie Lazzaro suffer a mishap and he finds himself in the near future where everybody is gone. A very strange story with the twist kind of stupid. Lazzaro is supposed to be likeable character, but there is not much to like about this movie.
