Haggar Men's Casual Classic Fit Denim Trouser Pant-Regular and Big & Tall Sizes

A 90% product, but the missing 10% is a deal killer!
These pants have the same easily remedied design flaw as Haggar's "Cool 18" expandable waist slacks. The front pocket lining is a very light color that contrasts drastically with the darker denim. When the waist expands as intended, even slightly, the contrasting pocket liner shows. The same problem occurs on dark colored Cool 18 slacks and should be apparent to the designers and QA folks. It not only looks bad, but reveals the expandable waist feature that Haggar otherwise goes to a lot of trouble to hide. All that's needed to fix the problem is a pocket liner made from the same material as the pant. Even a less contrasting material would be an improvement. I am a chemo patient whose treatment includes steroids that cause my waist to expand for a few days. These pants would otherwise be an ideal solution.

I DARE THE MANUFACTURER TO BUTTON THESE JEANS WHILE WEARING THEM...
...ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A "GENEROUS" WAIST SIZE (my husband is size 40). We should have heeded the warnings of other reviews regarding the button and button hole but we thought "how hard can it be"? Truthfully it's not difficult, it's impossible! Too bad because everything else about these jeans is quality. (The fabric is extremely nice.) Unfortunately, the jeans arrived when I wasn't home and so before trying them on, my husband removed all tags and labels and trashed them so we're stuck with them. I'm going to take them to our cleaners and see if they can do something about the button hole. That will increase the price but at least they won't be a total waste.

Button, button, who's got the button
But for one problem, I’d give these jeans an enthusiastic 5 stars. They are well-made (with one exception), nicely tailored, and with excellent pockets (important). The problem is the top button which is sewn too tightly to the material and may not be in precisely the right position (or maybe the buttonhole needs to be a bit larger). In any event, the button is very difficult to close (a fingernail-breaker) and even more difficult to open. For this reason, I exchanged the first pair purchased and was disappointed that the replacement pair was as bad. Because I like the jeans, I enlisted the services of my in-house seamstress (or is that “seamster” these days) and she removed and replaced the button so that it now works. I’m hoping Haggar will solve this problem and expect to order these jeans again.

Little things can make a good product bad.
Fit is excellent, sizing was spot on, look and wear is as you would expect from a Haggar product, excellent. Why only a 3? The *&%$#@)( button hole is just too small to easily fasten. For the first pair of the two pairs purchased I had to take a razor knife to the hole stitching to get it to fit at all. It was still too tight! It was not an anomaly, the second pair had the same issue. An added 1/8" on the hole width or a fractionally smaller button (I would not recommend this) would do it. This may go away after 30-40 washings, maybe not. WHO TESTED THESE USING REAL PEOPLE THAT WOULD LIKELY BE BUYERS? Quality is determined by the buyer; sadly in this case a little problem was not so little!

Button Hole Fix - But Don't Recommend Buying
The Good:Easily fixed the complaint of many other reviewers that the button hole was stiff and hard to use. Just use anything (I used a screwdriver) to stick in the hole and loosen the fabric by moving it around. Took less than a minute. There's more fabric folded up in the button part, and I think it's just heavily starched inside. The Bad:HOWEVER, the button was still too far over, so it still took some effort, which eventually led to the button falling off, because it's sewn on. Not the type that tacks on and is all metal. It's like a shirt button, but bigger. I replaced it with a tack on, which cost about $6 for a small pack. At least it's in the right place now.Fabric is thinner than you might expect, not like regular jeans. More like slacks but a little stiffer. It's not uncomfortable, just different.(Also, addressing something else I saw in reviews, there's NO WAY you'll expand these to the point of seeing the pocket fabric, unless you're buying a size much too small. I prefer relaxed fit, but tried pulling it to see what people meant.)

Conveneince
Much easier than trooping through the store which would have limited size offerings. Would be nice if Haggar did offer a 28" inseam options....thus saving a need to have them shortened.

And acceptable option for those who need a flexible waist band
It is hard to find pants and jeans with a flexible waistband. I am diabetic and disabled and need something that will flex with the varying WSJ lines that I may have. This does the trick but it is a bit small. It does not stretch as much as I would like and it does not come back to normal as much as I would like. This is one of the only options out there, but I do wish there was a little bit more play I am tired of wearing sweatpants all the time. LOL

Close, but no prize
These could be very nice pants. The fit in the waist and legs was quite good. BUT, the rise was not sufficient for me, so they always feel like they are riding in my butt crack. I'm still looking for the right denim slack. These will probably make someone at the Salvation Army very happy.

suitable for a dress casual pant
LIke the sharp crease and feel of the fabric. Expandable waist very functional but does expose white pocket fabric which should be a blue.A bit pricey compared to slore shopping but then you are paying for convenience as well as covering part of shipping costsAll given, I'd buy them again.
