Hush Little Baby: Board Book (Sylvia Long)

Beautifully illustrated lullaby book. Not the vintage lullaby, but is based on things a caregiver would show a child prior to sleep. There is a version on YouTube if you want to check it out prior to purchase.

Singing a favored song just got better. I love this good night lullaby for any young child settling down for a good nights sleep. The artistry is as lovely as the words. Your little reader will enjoy the many details hiding on each page. I have loved this book for decades and recently introduced it to another young family and it quickly became part of their sleep time routine.

Love the way this book captures wholesome bonding and memory making moments while holding the familiar/traditional tune. Bought to read with any beloved child in my life.

Board book with a slight twist on the old nursery fhyme.

I've always thought that the song "Hush Little Baby" was a bit of a materialistic nightmare. What baby needs a diamond ring or a horse and cart of their own? It's a lovely tune but the lyrics always put me off. This book fixes that. The art isn't necessarily to my style, but it's lovely for a children's book, and the lyrics are focused on enjoying the natural world and each other's company. A beautiful book with beautiful meaning.

What I really like about this book is its positivity: unlike the traditional song in which everything becomes lost, broken, or tarnished, this book celebrates the tender evening moments that lead up to bedtime. Singing this version has become a bedtime routine with my kids (4 & 2), who smile as they anticipate the next phrase, sometimes preferring to sing it to me rather than the other way around. Part of my childhood was spent in rural southeast Missouri, so as a bonus I can identify with the references to nature and the "country feel" of the illustrations.

I purchased this book as part of a small library for my first grandchild. I love that it is a board book and perfect for little hands.... I highly recomend this book every babies library should have this book!!

This book was a favorite of my boys growing up and I give it to every baby shower I am invited to.
