Walnut Hollow Unfinished Wood Recipe Card Box with Hinged Lid for Arts, Crafts, Hobbies and Home Storage Brown

Decent box for the price. Hinges are pretty cheap, but that made them easier to bend slightly to line up the crooked top. The quality is like any unfinished craft item you can find at Michaels etc. Wanted a 3x5 card box to hold my mom’s recipes. Most pre-made boxes are for larger notecards, except for plastic boxes. I wanted something a little prettier. I will stain this and it will meet my needs just fine.

I saw the box and read the title. Walnut Hollow....box. The price was too little to be walnut, but I didn't read the full description. Totally my fault. The box is ok. It doesn't close flush and the wood is very soft, but I will keep it. It does the job. I am using it for my SpiceBreeze subscription cards and no one will see it.

Not walnut! It's actually boxwood (that's a tree species, a soft wood, with very subtle grain). However, it is much better than expected! One black stain and glue blobs on the inside, so not perfect; but it fits 3x5 index cards with just a little room on either side, and looks decent. Lid closes evenly on top of the base, which was a relief. Might be a gamble ordering yours, but we're happy with the one we recieved. If you do order one, use a little sandpaper or a sharp knife to round the edges ever-so slightly.

I got this box to keep recipes in. The craftsmanship isn't spectacular and you can tell the wood isn't expensive or put together super well, but it's a box that was decent for the price.

I like the box very much. I painted it and it looks nice, and fits 3 X 5 recipe cards well. I found out after I received it that it was made of basswood--I guess it was my fault for thinking the heading "Walnut Hollow Unfinished Wood Box" meant that it was made of walnut, and was hollow inside! My suggestion would be to change the title.

I was very pleased with the quality of the box, but I had ordered a 4" x 6" (and got links from you for buying index cards that size, but you sent me a 3" x 5" box instead. It was something that I needed within a certain time frame, so I was unable to return or exchange it. Nevertheless, I disappointed that my order was not filled as requested.

Worked absolutely perfect for my project!!! There was a little bit of glue on the inside top lid but it's really no big deal, just be sure to sand it a little bit before painting or staining, and ta-da!!!! Problem solved :)

The back had a small chip in the wood. I can't bother with returning it, but that was disappointing. Otherwise, it's nice and will serve my purposes.

This sure as hell is not walnut. Basswood is a very cheap hardwood and extremely soft and easy to damage.
