Great Pre-Reader but Can Doc Cure the "Mystery Pox"?
Both of our girls (ages 3 and 6) are big fans of Doc McStuffins. We have all of the episodes on our DVR and lots of the toys. It is a fun show about a girl who is a doctor for toys and brings them to life with her stethoscope. It teaches children about the medical profession in a kid friendly way.We bought this book for our 3 year old as a pre-reader to get her interested in reading but I read it to both of my girls tonight for a double Daddy bedtime story since Mommy wasn't home. They were immediately familiar with the story because they recognized it from the TV episode and really liked telling me what was going to happen next. The story is about Donny's six armed toy alien who stops by to see Doc and all her friends. The only problem is that all of the sudden, a "Mystery Pox" epidemic breaks out. It is up to Doc to find out what happened. As expected, there was a happy ending and some tips about how to avoid germs on the inside back cover.I asked both girls what they thought of the story and they loved it. My oldest said, "I loved the book and the show!" They really get a kick out of the books that follow along with the TV episodes. Our kids seem to be drawn to them because they are immediately familiar and comfortable with the story. This is a great pre-reader for your Doc McStuffins fan. Highly Recommended!

Disapponted
I was so excited when I saw a few pre-k reading books were being released for Doc McStuffins. My daughter is almost 4 and has been reading for the past year. She LOVES the pre k books and had no problem reading them, as well most children's books that are geared toward pre-k kiddos. When this book arrived, I gave it to her right away and she wanted to read it before bed that night. Wow, was I disappointed. There are WAY too many words for a pre-k kid. They also use little images for the characters names, which at first I thought was cute. The placement of them is kinda off so my daughter was getting confused. She is a very advanced reader so I was shocked to see her struggle. I ended up taking over the reading after we were 2 pages in and found it annoying myself! The book was just way too long, it felt like it took me half an hour to read this thing. I don't know how they were able to market this for pre-school kids but I think they minimum age to read this and follow the format accordingly would be at least 6. I would not recommend this book. Buy the little golden book version instead! My daughter has no issues reading that one!

Great book with a lesson
We love to read all the Disney First Readers but this one was unique in that instead of the typical ad for more books in the inside back cover, it had a check list of things to do to stay healthy. The moral of this book was to wash your hands so Doc tells you how to keep from getting sick by washing hands and other stuff.

4 year old loves this style of books
The Pre-Level 1 books have been great to help teach my 4 year old the style of reading. There are pictures in place of words placed sporadically throughout so she gets to "help" me read the story. It's helped teach her how to read the pages and not guess what's going on based on the pictures. It's been a great first step for reading for her and she loves them. It helps too that they have a bunch of these books with the Disney Junior characters which make them extra fun!

Good book for beginners
I like that the workds get bigger when double tapped, however I wish I could view it in portrait mode (1 page at a time) instead of landscape (2 pages at a time)

Good for beginning readers
Good Doc story taken from the plot of one of the television episodes. This book will pose a challenge to the beginning reader. However practice makes perfect and with steady work they will begin to recognize the words and read the story mostly on their own.

great buy :-)
My daughters favourite tv character, she was so happy when she unwrapped this. Purchasing this book has helped to give my daughter the confidence to read with me.

Not very good at all
Did not help my daughter at all. All of the key words are replaced by pictures. How does that help her to recognise letters and phonics sounds?
