Highly anticipated 2013 self-titled debut album from the Progressive Rock band. Featuring John Young, Nick Beggs and Frosty Beedle, the material reflects the excellence of the musicians who perform on the album. This impressive line-up is augmented by guest appearances from such respected figures in Progressive music as Steve Hackett, Thijs Van Leer, Jakko Jaksyk and Robin Boult. Working with engineer Steve Rispin, Life signs is a tuneful, innovative and hugely impressive debut album certain to appeal to those who appreciate the finer aspects of modern Progressive Rock.

I am a prog rock fan from way back and probably have the most extensive and wide in variety collection in my area of the state s
I usually just put new CDs on and go about my business in the house. This time I had to stop and sit down. I remained seated for the entire album. Every time I thought to get up and do something some new musical phrase would begin and I would be mesmerized. I cannot say enough about this album. I am a prog rock fan from way back and probably have the most extensive and wide in variety collection in my area of the state so I guess I have a pretty good idea of what constitute good music. Plus being a musician myself helps as well. I am familiar with all the musicians in this band, which is why I bought the album in the first place, but I never expected to be wowed by what I heard. One might disagree with me but I heard a bit of 'Wind and Wuthering" as well as "Lizard" throughout this work. Not to say they lifted anything but were influenced by great '70s progressive rock pieces. Do yourself a favor and put on some headphones, sit back and dedicate the next hour to being completely entertained.

Gotta check this group out if you like Genesis, Yes, Rush etc.
Wish Lifesigns had 20 more albums! So psyched that I discovered these guys on Amazon Prime Music. Colorful musical landscapes. Lyrics that tell a story. Compelling musicianship. Love the use of bass-lines to add depth, funk and character to the music. Can't go wrong with Lifesigns. I'm a fan of Genesis, Yes, Kansas, Rush, Big-Big-Train... In other words I love both vintage prog-rock and am always looking for great new groups who aren't simply copy-cats. These guys are unique. They're their own being.

True Lifesigns!
Just so that we don't forget the immediacy of the moment and what lies beyond, around us, ahead of us, Lifesigns springs forth and opens the gateway! Thank you John Young! Thanks Nick Beggs & Frosty Beetle, and all who contributed to this project! It is a wonderful piece of work. Strange the connection with the telephone booth in the cover artwork, reminding me of the incredible "Milliontown" by Frost as well as the phonebooth used by Peter Gabriel on his "Secret World" tour back in 94 during the song "Come Talk To Me". Great moments in music! The CD opens with "Lighthouse", an excellent tune that is all about the search and the journey. A great exploritory vision! Excellence begins the journey! My personal favorite "Telephone" is the second track and has wonderful lyrics and great melodic content. John Young's lyrics "But your ears are open and your heart beats wide, cos there's something else and it's deep inside, and you're all alone and you don't know why, as you try and hide the love denied." are just a sample of some of the very best lyrics I've heard in some time. The entire song is masterful! Me being a long-time Genesis fan, I find great solace in this track. The third track "Fridge Full Of Stars" is another track that explores the cosmos connection with the human race. Can't help hear a slightly different twist on the old YES tune "Yours Is No Disgrace" in this track, but they make it completely enjoyable and current in Lifesigns style. More excellence! "At The End Of The World" is probably my least favorite track if I must have one. I like it very much, but feel at this time that it will have to grow on me a little more. Still an amazing track with excellent lyrics and harmonies. The CD ends with "Carousel" which is more modern prog at it's best. A great track that has more leanings towards ELP. What these guys have accomplished here is greatly significant! Also great to hear Steve Hackett (Genesis), Robin Boult (Fish), Jakko Jakszyk (King Crimson), & Thijs van Leer (Focus) all joining in on this! Also I must say that just about any project Mr. Nick Beggs gets involved with these days is usually of great significance! Not only has he been involved in Steve Hackett's band, but he has been a consistent member of Steven Wilson's solo work and touring band. Anyone who loves all the great prog of old and recent times will most likely find this a must for the collection! Makes it wonderful to be alive!!!

Prog of the Future
This is withoutadoubt the best prog release of 2013. John Young, who cut his chops early on with Dave Greenslade, heads this new group. Guest stars include Steve Hackett and This Van Leer of Focus. The sound is based very much in the 70's progressive rock category, with today's technology. That the producer is listedas a member of the band should tell you how great the sound is. Crisp, clean harmonies over intelligent lyrics, withbeautiful flutes, majestic keyboards and melodic guitar figures. LIFESIGNS has it all. Anyone into progressive rock, both old and new, would do well to pick up this release!

classic progressive / symphonic rock with a jazz/classical twist
John Young, Frosty Beedle and Nick Beggs have done a wonderful job here - with help from Steve Hackett and others. John's compositions are very well done, the rhythm section of Frosty and Nick is tight and wonderful. I really enjoyed this album from start to finish, with the flute & guitar melody in track 5 sticking with me throughout my entire commute to work, humming as I was walking around from meeting to meeting through the day, then back in the car for the drive home and finally humming as a lullaby to my kids as they fell asleep - just wonderful stuff!Highly recommended!

Great new progressive Rock!
Great work. Recommended highly. They remind me a little of ELP and the vocals are very harmony-based. Excellent. There is some early yes in there as well. Great production. very melodic. Buy it.

Growing and growing.
So many reviewers have said it all: this is a monumental album. It took at least 3-4 spins to start growing on me, but everytime I now discover new things. It is probably going to remain - time will tell - as one of the best prog rock albums of the recent years ... or even more. I have not yet heard number 2 album - just ordered it - and it seems they still did better. Can 't imagine how they could do that. ANYWAY: this is a must have album, beautiful songs throughout and marvelous band.

Accessible Prog that deserves multiple listens to really appreciate
My first encounter with Lifesigns was a Live show, where I didn't know what to expect at all (except that it would probably be a bit "Prog") - and I was honestly blown away by how enjoyable the songs were, how tight the band played, and how much fun and energy they projected with every song. Not long after, I bought the album (and have had it for a few months now) - and consider it one of the best purchases I have ever made. The music really grows on you. It's true that you need several listens before you can really appreciate this one; and I started out just simply enjoying it, but actually grew to really love it immensely.Lifesigns isn't a tribute act; they aren't trying to emulate anyone; guest musicians aren't there just to add a name - this is a collection of professional musicians who are having fun making the kind of music that they enjoy, for others. If we must label it, then it's "Accessible Prog" - but it's really much more than that... it's got plenty of catches, in melody and lyrics and rhythm and guitar licks. And it hits you right smack in the heart, with each dramatic swell, or high note, or drum fill, or any of a myriad of moments that connect with you emotionally. Each track is of a considerable length, but not that you'd particularly notice - the music adapts and flows and evolves. It keeps being interesting, and that's what makes it so great for multiple listens. It's as much fun to hear this in the car on a long journey, as it is to grab some decent cans and chill out in the dark in your room... however you listen to it though, I highly recommend having a decent sound system / headphones - there's so much going on, on so many levels, and the music really blossoms when you can clearly hear every element involved.I could describe each song in detail - but it's much better for any listener to just discover it for themselves. You'll either love it or you won't. But if you go into Lifesigns with no expectations, then you should be very pleasantly surprised.I know I've come quite late to the party, with this group - but it really doesn't matter, as they are actively making an effort to get out there and play this stuff Live at every opportunity; they work hard to connect with fans, and really do slog their guts out on and off the stage! I'm very much looking forward to their follow-up album... and hope they get into the studio to record it soon!

Old crowd to make an old sound
British Prog-rock for sure, following in the steps of all the greats, Genisis, Tull, Barclay James Harvest etc. This is not to mean more of the same, but come on guys has this not been done to death already. Certainly it does not fall short of good, if not great songs, but has a slight style of its own. If you have never grown out of that period of rocks history, then this will give you something new to think music of this gender has still more to say. There is plenty of great musicianship found within this release that can help you digest the content easier. The whole album flows with confidence in the certainty of coming to its conclusion. I do like this but find it does grind on the past too much to entertain one. Just to point to this fact is the people involved are from said times, such as Theers Van Leer, Steve Hackett and the like. All the songs go on forever as is the like of this music, the only added benefit is the music is a little more folk influenced and gentle.

Excellent new prog.
Excellent new prog.Music taste is such a personal thing.... but I love this album from Lifesigns. Complex and interesting without resorting to metal or overly dark themes... (some like this I know). The latest "YES" album "Heaven and Earth" tried to be positive and uplifting but ended up being thin and lightweight (apart from their final track "Subway Walls") This new material from Lifesigns manages to be uplifting and anthemic without sounding twee. It has guts and power but it is never overbearing and dark... and most importantly... it avoids resorting to metal to lend credence to the music.A fine line to tread and they do it so very well IMHO.... Looking forward to another album from these guys.

An Album of the highest quality.
This is, without doubt, a superb album. Wonderful musicianship based on, but not totally, "prog". Great vocal harmonies and mostly in the major key to drive the sound forward. It's also wonderfully produced by Steve Rispin. An engineer of top quality.I can guarantee you will not be disappointed but also try to see them Live! If you have ever seen Genesis, you will know how true to the original they are. Lifesigns is the same. A new live DVD is out shortly and they are working on a new album. I can't wait.............
