Fun Facts and Incredible Photos
I bought this book for a 5 year old who is very much into spiders. The photos are incredible. The book is worth it just for that. There are some interesting facts throughout the book about spiders, beyond the typical. Like how spiders know up from down based on sight only. If they couldn't see they wouldn't know the difference. It's fun trivia to share with a youngster.

Fascinating, informative, interesting little book
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this little book. There is so much information in it that I didn't know, fascinating things. Did you know the difference between spider webs and cobwebs? I didn't, but now I do! Did I say this book is fascinating? The photos in it are excellent, too.

Meh
Got this for my 3 year old nephew. It's a little above his reading level. I was expecting more content (pages/info) than is there. Book feels cheaply made. Will definitely get hardbacks from now on.

Sharp Engaging Photographs of 8 Legged Creatures.
I would say that the target audience for this book is 8+. The pictures are bright, sharp, detailed and captioned. There are a wide variety of spiders shown. Many of the photos are quite dramatic. The writing is crisp and full details, it starts out with some general information including anatomy, habitats, hunting. It then gives some information on some individual species of spiders, i.e. black widow and crab spider. The style is child friendly without being condescending. It gives enough science but also enough of the gruesome stuff to make it fun.I viewed this on a 17" screen using both the Kindle App for PC, the Cloud Viewer and an iPad with the following results:KINDLE FOR PC: the illustrations fill about a third of the page and cannot be enlarged. For the most part the reader can see the concept title, photograph and concept factoids on one page.CLOUD READER: Even with the smallest font and the largest margin, I cannot get the concept title, photo and factoid paragraph on the same page. It usually took three pages per concept. This does allow the photograph to fill a major of the portion of the screen which allows the reader to see a lot of detail.iPAD: While reading the story the illustration fills about 1/4 of the page, however to see more all you need to do is tap the picture and it will enlarge to fill the entire screen, (enlarged photo best scene on landscape orientation). Even on portrait orientation I was unable to see the concept title, photograph and concept paragraphs on one page. Therefore I recommend that you read it on landscape orientation so you don't have to keep turning the device when enlarging photographs. This book has a clickable Table of Contents.I Highly recommend this informative book.ETA: to include multiple format information

Spiders....Ugh!
Although I have never been a fan of spiders, this book is very well written and illustrated. I found that it has just the right amount of facts as to not bore the reader ( or child being read to ). I enjoyed the book. I hope that by reading this book to my grandchildren they will come to appreciate spiders and the role they play in our ecosystem.

Great book
As a former second grade teacher, I think children of that age would love this book. But as a 71 year person reading it, I found it to be on my level also. The photos are great and the information was just enough to interest me in seeking more. I now know enough to decide that spiders might be quite interesting and not just worth an "Ooo a spider!" response.

A well balanced book for primary school age readers
My 7 year old son has just finished reading this book to me, a couple of pages per day, and he really enjoyed it. He is a reluctant reader and it has sometimes been hard to find books to keep his interest, but this is one he actually asked for. The photos are generally clear and good quality. The level of information in the text is well balanced for primary school age, not too patronising, and I learnt a few things too. All in all a good buy and I will look at getting some others in the series.
