how does this compare to afrin?

Afrin is designed to shrink membranes to open passages and works in 15-45 min or less. Flonase is a benign steroid that starts working after 4 days of use to desensitize mucous membranes and helps with symptomatic itchy eyes. You might try Flonase and use Afrin as back up. Flonase does not create dependency.

Is this the same as the prescription version? Just as strong, same chemical makeup, etc.?

Same exact dosage as my prescription Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray USP. 50mcg per Spray. My prescribed bottle was for 120 metered sprays.

is this the nasal spray that smells like orange blossoms and doesn't burn?

Flonase has a perfumey smell which could be described as like orange blossoms. It does not burn my nasal passages, but that may be different when used by other folks.
