This is not a cheap tasting prickly pear syrup.
This is a very high quality syrup. Not at all like the watered down extra sugary syrups. It is a higher end syrup with a rich natural taste. I have used in drinks and desserts. I tried a couple other brands which were cheap imitation tasting syrups. The seller was extremely prompt on delivery, and I felt the price was very fair in regards to the products quality. You won’t be disappointed using this syrup in your culinary recipes!

Good, but not as distinctive as we had hoped.
After a trip to Arizona, we wanted to replicate the tasty and unique prickly pear lemonade we had at a state park. We regretted not buying a bottle of this same brand of syrup from any of the various gift shops we visited, and were pleased to find it here although it was much more costly. When mixed with lemonade this makes a taste reminiscent of the AZ flavor, but does not match it exactly. It is sweet and good and does have a hint of the prickly pear flavor. I removed one star due to it not being quite as distinctive as we had hoped.

YUM
Why did you pick this product vs others?: This is our choice for prickly pear syrup. It makes a great prickly pear margarita. You don’t need to add a lot unless you love super sweet, maybe a half to a full shot.

Bright pink color and bright fruity flavor
This is the ingredient used in Mesa Grill in Las Vegas (at least I think that's so, it tastes like it). It adds something like a passionfruit zip to a drink. My friends are now hooked on it too. It has no phony sweetener taste, but I think it should be used sparingly as it's sweet. My only complaint with this product is the amount of packing material in the carton. I wouldn't want this sticky stuff to break in the mail either, but I think another method of protecting the product would be better than a huge box of packing peanuts with a bubble-wrapped bottle floating around in it. The vendors who ship this product seem very sweet, though, as they did respond to my complaint to them about the packaging saying that they want to ensure safe delivery. They had thrown in a little extra gift of lip balm in the original shipment, which I really loved - I always like lagniappe. I love this syrup and will order more this summer for tasty and festive bright pink margaritas on the patio.

Buy it mostly for the color and subtle sweetness
The hot pink color makes for a cool margarita, but to my taste buds the taste and sweetness is much like agave syrup. Recipes that include both types of syrups use them as sweeteners. They are not overly sweet nor do I think they add an overly dominant or distinct flavor of their own. I've lived in the SW for decades and I've had many, many margaritas and they are much, much better without the chemical-like taste of sweet and sour mixes! So, rejoice because there is no need for a so-called sweet and sour mix, or corn syrup, or other highly processed syrups—the prickly pear and agave syrups along with lime (or lemon) create the taste that combines sublimely with tequila, triple sec (or other orange based liquor), and salt. Cheri's Desert Harvest website has a very good margarita recipe that uses the beautifully hued prickly pear cactus syrup. I've tried it and think it's muy bueno! In summary: The prickly pear syrup makes for a lovely distinctive hot pink hued margarita, but if I close my eyes the taste is pretty much that of a margarita with agave syrup. If I taste with my eyes open, I feel an extra zing of margarita merriment. Because presentation has its pluses, make your own informed decision. I recommend a margarita taste test to compare the two results. :) ¡Olé!
