A great budget mic
If you want to see my final opinion right away skip down to the last paragraph.I was in need of a better microphone for making videos online. I had the popular Rode Video Micro. While the audio quality was quite good with that mic, the nature of the smaller mic and thus the pickup pattern it made sound from further away from the camera too soft and needed too much boost in post production which caused too much distortion. So I looked for a mic that was larger with a larger pickup pattern. The Rode VideoMic Pro would have served my needs fine but the cost was a little out of my budget. So after looking at all the larger on-camera mics on Amazon I decided to try out the Comica CVM-V30Pro.In the box you get the mic itself, the usual foam windscreen cover and what I really appreciated was that they include a nice dead cat/wind muff that you usually don’t get with other mics in this price range. Of course you get a manual as well. Don’t forget to pick up a couple AAA batteries that this mic requires. There is one little feature that I want to mention that ended up being a huge feature for me. On the rear of the mic there is a led light that indicates the mic is turned on. I have had other mics without the light and I hate to admit I have screwed up more than a couple videos by forgetting to turn the mic on. Big plus for this mic.The build quality is fine for a mic at this price range. Everything is pretty much plastic as you would expect but not super thin plastic that could break quickly. I have run around quite a bit outside with this mic and even dropped the whole camera rig and the mic survived without any breakage. The mount of this mic is nice and seems to absorb any movement just fine. I have wiggled the camera around with the mic mounted on top and didn’t really hear any noise from the mount. This shotgun mic has the usual super cardioid pickup pattern. Very little noise is picked up from behind. You can pick up a little more from the sides but not much at all. I feel this mic is super directional which is what you want from a shotgun mic. You get a nice and natural sound in whatever environment you are in.The mic does have a low cut filter feature which helps to avoid booming type noise but honestly I don’t use this feature very much even on higher end mics so I can’t really speak to this feature. The +10db feature helps when you need to pick up sound that is further away. If you are a vlogger and you hold your camera at arms length there is really no need to use this feature. The volume of audio you get at that distance is just fine without it.One big problem I had with the Rode Video Micro was I would very often get RF noise when filming indoors. I don’t know if this was something specific to my home or something but it really ruined the audio that I would often resort to a lav mic when filming indoors. Now with the Comica CVM-V30 Pro I get NO RF noise! Again I don’t know if the RF noise was due to my environment but switching to the Comica lens totally solved the problem. Big win for the Comica.Audio is a very subjective thing. What may sound good to one person may not be as good to someone else. What I can say is that the Comica solved many of the issues I had with the smaller Rode Video Micro not to mention solving the huge issue with the RF noise. In my opinion the audio quality of this mic punches way above its weight class. It is a fantastic value at the sub $60 price range. If you want a on-camera shotgun with better audio quality I feel you would need to invest into the Rode VideoMic Pro or the other mics in the $150 - $200 price range. I am VERY happy with the audio quality of this mic and I feel very comfortable giving it my recommendation.

Great shotgun mic for the money.
This is the third Comica mic I have and this is by far the best. I am a big fan of their products. I purchased this for my YouTube channel and have been using for the last five days and I am really impressed. For $54 (time of purchase July, 2019) you get the shotgun mic, a pop filter, a wind muff, a shock mount, and the manual. The mic is a Super Cardioid mic, which means it picks up sound very well directly in front of it. Sides are OK and it picks up very little to no sounds behind you. It’s very directional. The subject has to be in front of the mic to pick up good sound. The mic does require that you have a cold shoe on your camera. My t7i has it built in. Also, the mic needs two AAA batteries. Which is good and bad at the same time. It's good because the mic won't suck up all the power from your phone/camera. It's bad because you have to have extra batteries around just in case it runs out and it puts a little more weight on your setup. (I don't know how long the two AAA batteries will last, but for my five days of testing it's still going strong.) If you are vlogger, the size of the mic is just too big in my humble opinion. With the wind muff on, it’s a monster. Speaking of wind muff, the only way to put on the wind muff is to put it over the pop filter. The wind muff won’t stay on unless the pop filter is on first. For vlogging I use the Comica CVM-VM10II (very small and discrete). The CVM-VM10II is made of metal and this mic is plastic. Plastic is good in that it keeps the weight down. It’s bad because of durability. The shock mount the mic sits on does it’s job. Small bumps are not heard and moving the camera around slowly will not add unwanted sounds. If you make quick and violent movements, you might pick up a bump of two. The low cut filter is great if you are indoors and the AC is running in the background. It helps reduce the noise, not much, but it helps. The 10dB is great for long distance shoots. I was recording birds with my 70-300mm lens and it really helped in capturing the sounds. If you are close (5-10 feet) it gets really loud and distorted with the 10dB on. Well, if you speak softly, it might not. But my kids are loud and I had to turn the 10dB off when they are close, lol. The only gripe I have is, the 3.5mm is attached to the mic and cannot be removed. It only has two rings and is only intended for Cameras and not smart phones. Smart phones need a three ring 3.5mm wire. Anyhow, I hope this really helps. For the money, it’s a five out of five star for sure.

Rode....LOL
I used a Rode mic on my GoPro to put together a video of an extensive bike build. The sound was better than without, but it had a little extra noise to it. And it didn't last very long. At all! I purchased this one to use on my Canon video camera for my wedding to avoid a Rode. I experimented for quit some time with settings and distance. This mic CLEARLY pics up voices that are just over a whisper at 17 feet. CLEARY! It also has some compression, so if you turn on a song in the room it isn't overloading the mic, that just picked up a whisper. I then tested it on my GoPro....cleaned it right up! It was a much better quality sound than the broken Rode ever was. One last point: I was single for 20 years, drove 500 miles to the Rockies, and got married in a church I'd never seen until it was time. Thirty minutes before the wedding, my son and I were setting up 3 cameras, the Canon being the main camera. I realized, I shouldn't have been the one worrying about it, minutes before my own wedding. The ONE thing I forgot to do, was turn on this mic. Plugged into the camera, it shuts off the camera's built in mic. It still recorded sound good enough to clearly understand during the ceremony. I was sick when I realized the mic wasn't on after the ceremony, and surprised when we got home it did a decent job turned off. The volume was a bit low, but was easily brought up in my video software, and a little filtering would/will clean it on up. It basically sounded like the Canon mic would have, with a touch less volume. I will never buy a Rode again, sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

Great microphone, nice clear sound and good sound levels
This was the third mic I'd tried for my Canon EOS camera and a very pleasant surprise after the first two had major problems with weak, distant sound. The sound in normal mode is good, clear, doesn't sound like all the bass has been ripped out of it, and it gets a decent sound level from someone speaking 2-3m away. In the boosted mode, it's even better, really strong. Quality is at a level where I'd probably not bother to enhance it for a family video, might do some basic tweaking for publication but I think it'd even be acceptable raw.Needs batteries - can't be powered by the camera's mic connection; in spite of two batteries inside, it's not heavy and I don't really notice it on the camera apart from when my forehead bumps the back of it (it does protrude slightly behind the camera body at the rear, but much less than many other mics).

A nice shotgun microphone with some quick adjustments on the back
The media could not be loaded. A great shotgun microphone, I do like the switch on the back that allows you to reduce the background noise at a flick of a switch plus you can increase the decibels by 10 %, Like all microphones, you have to fine-tune it for your environment, I have made a video to show you around the microphone and it's features, but I did not adjust the settings to get the best results out of it, as I am waiting for my new camera to turn up for that.Comes with a fluffy one (wind Muff), and shock mount, instructions are very clear and easy to understand with nice and clear illustrations.Gets my thumbs up and I hope the video helps you.

Amazing recording quality considering how cheap it is!
The media could not be loaded. I was finding it difficult to find a good video microphone to record myself playing guitar, some mics I tried didn't replicate the true sound of the guitar especially the bass. The V30PRO mic is brilliant, accurately records what I am playing especially the more bassy notes. It comes with a huge fluffy windmuff which will be great for recording videos outside. The mic does require 2x AAA batteries, which are not included in the box unfortunately but once they are in they say it will last up to 200 hours which is great. The mic also has a 10db boost function and high pass filter options for different recording scenarios. It is very simple to use, simply plug and play, but the 3.5mm jack is not removable. Overall I think it's a great mic for under £60 right now. And can be easily mounted onto a DSLR camera. Thumbs up from me!

Decent Budget Shotgun Mic
The media could not be loaded. If your looking for a budget shotgun mic that is an improvement over the internal sound of your DSLR this maybe for you. Works well in outdoor and noisy environments due to its shotgun design and included windshield.
